2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 HermanW (875) - Coevorden, NETHERLANDS - JUN 8, 2005
A simpel not good pale lager.
1 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 3/20 frankenkitty (1958) - Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA - JUN 8, 2005
These were brand spankin’ new at the store and mine was skunked like it was subjected to UV light for months. A little grass under that god-awful stench. Medium golden color under a fully-fading white head. Mild bitterness to start ending with sour milk (mostly when I use "sour" to describe a flavor it is lemon or grapefruit sour... this is sour milk). It ended by giving me a "Heineken-headache"... and I’ve no respect for that. More than half down the drain, and it took half box of baking soda to get the skunk smell out of the kitchen. Horrible.
Regretfully, I am anally-retentive as a collector and need to acquire Baltika 0 through 10 for my growing bottle collection. I have number 7 sitting in my fridge and I sadly predict it will perform in the exact same way.

1.1 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 3/20 Cornfield (5277) - Oak Forest, Illinois, USA - MAY 25, 2005
UPDATED: JUL 20, 2005 One whiff of this, and you’ll understand why Baltika Brewery has so many flavored versions of #2. It’s got a skunk aroma, pure and simple. Dead skunk. It pours out pale yellow with a frothy head and... wait - there’s no head! It tastes corny with some other canned vegetables with a dollop of honey and a bitter metallic aftertaste. I just realized, this is my 600th rating for 2005. What a way to exhibit my class....

Pour is a pale yellow with a small white head. Aroma is skunked out the wazoo. Flavor is typical eastern euro pale lager. Lots of wet paper taste with some cardboard thrown in there. Not the best by a long shot.
2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 PorterPounder (4105) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - MAR 5, 2005
Killearn Liquors, Tallhassee Fl. - 1 pt .9 fl oz bottle - is Tallahassee the only place this is available? Pours a medium gold with a thin and wispy, but persistent white head. Faint worty aroma with a bit of corn flakes, not half bad. Flavor is slightly dusty, typical Russian lager flavor. A bit of corn, dash of honey, not offensive. Alcohol a bit more pronounced than one would expect from a 4.7 ABV beer. Mouthfeel about as thick as one would expect from a Russian lager. Had worse.
2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 Aurelius (3143) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - MAR 4, 2005
Twangy lager. Skunky malt aroma. for a beer with 4.7 ABV it tastes a lot more boozy. Clingy, unpleasantly bitter finish on a medium body. Nothing worth shipping overseas.
