2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 yesyouam (951) - Fairport, New York, USA - JAN 2, 2009
Baltika #2 is a clear and sparkling light golden lager with a dense white head that has good retention and leaves some nice lacing. The aroma is lemony and funky. It has a bit of a sweat sock whiff. It’s light, maybe medium-light, bodied and reasonably smooth with a flat, gritty finish. There’s not really much flavor at all. What’s there is grassy-- maybe lemon grass. I really expected this to be bad, but it wasn’t. It’s very much along the lines of an American macro, but with a little more oomph and no glaring signs of adjuncts. It was well worth the 96 cents for the 500ml bottle.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 Gypsy19 (728) - California, USA - OCT 27, 2008
This isn’t a bad lager at all. Tastes like a Dutch or German lager, but with a little more flavor and mint undertones. Not great, but pleasant, and I’m the last one to readily complement lagers.
1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20 Drake (4803) - Charlottesville, Virginia, USA - OCT 15, 2008
500 mL bottle from Sam’s Quik Shop. Pours an apple juice color, clear, with a one-finger creamy head. Aroma is slight skunk, heavy grain and a sweetness I suppose comes from the rice. Very dry grassy taste. Medium bodied.

1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 5/20 tgncc (1797) - Bellmore, New York, USA - SEP 27, 2008
This is essentially a pale lager, an imitation of Budweiser and other odious brews. The aroma, flavor, appearance and palate all typical for this style. The beer emits a spicy, grassy aroma. The appearance is the same old yellow with white head. The flavor is affected mainly by the adjuncts, like rice and corn. The palate has a slight hoppynes to it, nothing remarkable. at least now I’ve had all the Baltika beers, 1-9.
