COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A lager beer produced using pale barley malt, rice and exclusive varieties of hops which give this beer variety its inimitable aroma, very light and velvety flavor and pleasant bitterness of hops. The addition of rice provides No2 Pale with a surprisingly fresh taste and smoothness, and for these reasons it is easy to drink.
The ingredients are water, pale barley malt, select rice and hops.
Produced since 2004. 11°

Bottled. Pale golden and a small white head. Aroma is quite boring, with malt, hops and grass, and the flavor isn’t much better. Some sweetness, malt, grass and light spicey hops. Thin body and some metallic notes in the finish. (060518)

From the green bottle pours a crystal clear golden elixir with a huge bone white head that slowly dissipates. Huge notes of skunk coming from the bottle and glass that second I pop the top open. Airing it out a bit that does somewhat subside revealing a somewhat lackluster lightly bready lightly spicy aroma. The flavor is a bit sweet up front with sugary biscuits and a hint of earthy spicy hops and a touch of wet cardboard. Medium to thin body with a moderate level of carbonation and a sweet watery mouthfeel. Feels like a macro lager, and aside from the fact that its from Russia, I see no reason to ever pick this up again.

Baltika #2 Lager. 16.9 fl oz / 500mL bottle into a pint glass. Aroma As soon as I pried the lid off, my room was flooded with that Corona-esque urine reek. Once you get through that, the aroma is all sweet corn and malts. Appearance: Pretty typical lager. Transparent yellow, fizzy soapy white head that goes away quickly. Taste: All sweet malt. No hops. Just sweet, corny, malty lager. Palate: Extremely thin bodied. It’s there and it’s gone. Overall: Not a particularly special lager, but not really horrible.

From the 25 fl. oz. green bottle stamped: 1901.13-13:09/1901.14-5W. The color is pale yellow with a short-lived white fizzy head. The aroma is full of sweet malts and grain, cooked rice, and biscuit with a subtle to nearly impossible to find hop note. The body is light. While the hops do not present themselves on my nose there is a definite clean hop taste that lingers at the end. A bit better than Baltika’s pale lager 5.

Pours clear, bubbly gold with a tall, soapy white head. Aroma is sour grain malt, slightly odd...maybe the rice. Flavour is malt, grain, a bit of green bottle, creamy rice notes. Not bad......superior to the bulk of macro lagers.

Bottle from Sloth’s "care package" . With friends like him.....who needs statistics? As I have had the displeasure of most of the Baltika line, I was pleasantly relieved that this was a pretty drinkable and full bodied lager. Yes the rice funk was ever present in the second half of the quaff. Overall a head above Budweiser and all that swill. I would have had two if Bert would have sent them.

Drinkable, but bland. Adjunct grains smooth it out, and also take away from any flavor and taste.

From the notes: Bottle. Yellow, white, tastes like bad beer, nothing really distinctive. Don’t understand the various Baltika’s.

Bottle shared with MichaelBruch. Deep golden colour with low head. Thin body. Nose of hops. Taste of mild hops, light honey, light caramel, mild apples and grains. Some slight bitter finish. Very refreshing.

Bottle shared with McTapps. Another pissy and tasteless Baltika. There is some malt and some grain in the aroma and taste, but that´s not enough to score high. An easy beer for tougher meals. Ok at all.

Poured from a 16.9 oz green bottle into a snifter. A rather ordinary looking lager: slightly hazy, golden with a modest and short-lived head. Aroma: light malt and hops with a slight skunkiness and a hint of honey. T: slightly sweet and floral, with low but well balanced levels of hops and malt. M: rather light and watery body; carbonation is too low; smooth. Overall: this beer is drinkable but not good enough to recommend or buy again.
