A lager beer produced using pale barley malt, rice and exclusive varieties of hops which give this beer variety its inimitable aroma, very light and velvety flavor and pleasant bitterness of hops. The addition of rice provides No2 Pale with a surprisingly fresh taste and smoothness, and for these reasons it is easy to drink.
The ingredients are water, pale barley malt, select rice and hops.
Produced since 2004. 11°

Bottled. Pale golden and a small white head. Aroma is quite boring, with malt, hops and grass, and the flavor isn’t much better. Some sweetness, malt, grass and light spicey hops. Thin body and some metallic notes in the finish. (060518)

0,5 l bottle. Pours out clear golden in the glass, foamy white head, very high carbonation. Citrus and rice on the nose. Thin taste, little bit malt, dusty citrus, sweetness, grassy. Disappointing.

Siste i Baltikasuiten, alle fra den døgnåpne russiske sjappa pp hjørnet. Klar gylden med meget kort skum. Nesten ingen aroma og bare litt smak. Instantly forgettable. Heldigvis bare en euro.

Bottle, 4.7%. Ashy aroma. Clear golden colour. Small stable white head. The flavour is vinous, grainy, almost sour. Faint marzipan note in the finish. Meh.

bottle. Pours clear pale golden with airy white head. Clear aroma of yeast and malt with notes of hops. Bitter, hoppy flavour with acidic and malty notes. Estery aftertaste with some citric hints. Quite clean and not bad for the style.

bottle @ Jungle Jim’s / Eastgate OH --- Clear golden amber color, thick 2" white head, tiny smudges of lace. Lots of rising effervescence. Nice looking brew. Taste doesn’t match the look. Somewhat thin, but tasty, malt opens things, moving into the palate with little alteration. Light hops finish things off. Seems light, event for 4.7% abv, otherwise it is an easy to drink brew.

Reasonable hop character and some pleasant sweetness but a watery palate and a bit of a hint of soap. Not a great lager.

UPDATED: NOV 8, 2014 Pale yellow colour with thin, quick and bubling head. Aroma is not that good with some metal, vegetables, malt and grassy hops. Taste is a bit better with sweet malt, hint of hops and some flavours that really shouldn’t be there. Palate is thin and over carbonated. No need to try this one.

(Baltika 2 Svetloe) Bottle, 500ml, at home. Poured into a glass tankard, ABV 4.7% Pale golden yellow colour on the body, small frothy head on top, disappearing quickly and leaving just a thin line of lacing around the glass. Malty aroma with some clean straw, sweet, not offensive. Okay taste, sweet and malty but not so much different from a pale lager you’d enjoy sitting at a beach bar. Me sitting on my living room on a warm summer night doesn’t make that much difference so I’m enjoying this. Some clean grass and a touch of lemon too. Pretty okay. Medium thin body, good carbonation. Slightly dry palate. Honest pale lager, quite drinkable, till now probably the best Baltika I had, at least from the pales.
