Bottle. Pours pale gold. with a decent white head, dissipates to almost nothing but leaves a light frith on the top of the beer. Aroma is almost skunky earthy and hops. Flavor is a bit skunky, but you can taste a bit of a hop bite and some grainy malts. Can tast the alcohol on the finish. Finish is a bit dry like a cheap champagne.

a pale yellow, with a nice head. a bit hoppy in the nose. mild taste, some grains and hops in the flavor. but when this is all you have to drink in moscow in february perhaps you think it is better than it really is (being drunk in moscow in february is a KGB requirement, i think). it finishes a bit like Bud. i’m pretty sure the low ratings are due to not understanding the russian soul. read some dostoyevsky. having said all that, i understand my love of this beer has more to do with my experiences than with the quality of the beer.

0.5 l bottle brought from Russian shop in Graz. Pale golden bodied beer, with medium head. Lemon and grass hops in aroma with some weak malt notes, otherwise would be same as no.2. Flavor also very similar, a little bit fuller though, with hops and weak malt dominating, exactly as aroma would suggest. Finish is short and bittersweet, nothing special, but generally fine pale lager again.

Pours a standard yellow beer color with a standard white beer head. Aroma and taste are standard as well, with a hint of hops. Standard.

Bottle courtesy of and shared with heavy (thanks!)
Poured a shiny yellow colour with a thick medium sized head that went away relatively fast. Weak sourish hopiness in the nose, maybe lemon. The taste is... gee, empty. A void surrounded by a mild hoppy bitterness (proved to be the hoppiest of the 4 we’ve had today). Ok, not a void. Some very weak maltiness could be sensed. Dull and unimpressive, and yet not the worst Baltika we’ve had today.

Bottled in Moscow. Pale yellow, thin head, light beer, smooth bitterness and weak aroma. Mouthefeel refreshing.

500ml bottle.
Truly has a foamy head, decent retention also. More of a yellow than golden. Very weak aroma of malts. Similar flavour with some doughy finish. Not the best.

Poured from bottle 1/2008. Found this one nestled in with the wine in the fridge at a liquor store. Faint malt and even fainter hops in the aroma. Light gold, as expected with thin persistent head. Slightly sweet as you first taste it. While the malt and hops are there, they are quite hard to detect in the flavor. A shame, really, since it is a fairly well made beer. Crisp, clean feel. Finished OK.
