gilvanblight (390), Windsor, Ontario, Canada Aug 17, 2007 Updated: Feb 28, 2009Golden pour with a quick but short lived yet lacey head. Euro hops sweetish scent. Euro hops sweetish corny taste to go with it. I’m still in shock that a large portion of Europe seems to think this style is a good thing. I guess I can’t complain coming from the land of Molson and Labbat. JoeMcPhee (4893), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Aug 15, 2007 500 ml bottle. Pale golden beer with a thick white head. Lots of fresh bready pale malt. Body is a bit thin, but I enjoy the freshness of the malts. Lightly floral on the back. Sweetness picks up a bit as the beer warms a bit, but it’s a fairly clean, inoffensive helles-style lager. presario (2953), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Aug 14, 2007 BB4 06.08.07. Pale yellow. Quickly thinning white head leaves a ghostly skiff. Light grassy aroma with hint of vegetable. Thin with some light rough hops. Starts friendly but finish is not. probstk (1005), Nepean, Ontario, Canada Aug 10, 2007 500 mL bottle from the LCBO in Brampton, servede cold in a rocks glass. AU02/07
App.: Medium-light straw, clear, miniscule white head.
Aroma: Light malts and herbaceous hops, cereals and grains, a little white pepper; better hop presence than other products from this part of the world.
Palate: Medium body, fairly full carbonation.
Flav.: Light malt, some cereal and corn, light grassy, herbaceous hops; basically no after taste.
Simple, but still drinkable.
Chapel (329), Levittown, New York, USA Jul 30, 2007 Light yellow pour with a thin white head that doesn’t dissipate too quickly. Some hops in the nose, but it is mostly dominated by malts. Surprisingly creamy texture. Unfortunately the flavor was a bit of a let down with a rather mild malt finish and a acidic start. It just doesn’t leave much of an impression. bhensonb (4182), Woodland, California, USA Jul 29, 2007 Light aroma of noble hop. Arguably some pale male hints. Brassy gold color with a white head that diminished, then sort of filmed. Medium bodied. Moderate carbonation. Pale malt sweetness accompanied by grassy/herby hop. A lager that is trying to be a pilsener. The finish is not quite dry, but has noble hop persisting into the future. Hard to explain why, but this is head over shoulders above the American mass products. robinvboyer (1419), Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, Canada Jul 28, 2007 well this is delicate alright....it looks like plae yellow water. VEry very lighton flavour, smells grassy, and corny, and slightly hops. meh, nothing special. MaliMisho (208), East Meadow, New York, USA Jul 28, 2007 I thought it was a decent beer, but could be better, I would like to try some of the other Baltika’s as well.
