Crit (2399), New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada Jul 11, 2006 Light gold, large off white head.Grainy nose.Faintly sweet watery palate, not much else. IHCNavistar (93), Orinda, California, USA Jul 9, 2006 Bottle. Aroma is quite malty, with hops being very faint and in the background. Taste is VERY yeasty, like Budweiser or Coors, but has a somewhat think malt part to it.Carbonation is good, but the taste is just too overpowering. Slightly creamy, but wayyy too yeasty and malty. Not a repeat buy. skoisirius (570), Seattle, Washington, USA Jul 2, 2006 16.9 oz bottle into a Snifter glass. Pours a completely see-through light golden color with a thin and tiny bubbled white head. Aroma contains hints of yeast, malt, and Earthiness. Flavor is extremely grassy, grainy, yeasty, and mildy carbonated. The finish has a bitter note to it and dies pretty quickly. Not complex at all. Quite boring for the most part. Can be refreshing if you’re in that sort of mood, but I’ll personally pass. 5000 (2409), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA Jun 20, 2006 Bottle: Translucent straw, large rocky white head, spotty lacing, mild carbonation. Much like all the Baltika beers, cept the 6, that being sweet grassy nose, pale malts, a little bit of oat or hay. Taste is similar, clean, quite clean actually and much better than their american counterparts. Average body and mouthfeel, albeit a bit creamy. Hmmm, why do I like this one so? I guess cuz I expected so little but it actually gave quite a bit. Pleasing, easy to kick back, with a very slight sweet grass flavor. I could handle more of this!
CQC (223), Sydney, Australia Jun 9, 2006 Looks fine in a goldeln urine kinda way, its got a taste that is ioffensive in a watery kinda way and is general kinda boring, snzzzzzzz. LibraryBrewer (50), Goodridge, Minnesota, USA Jun 4, 2006 Gotta love these brews other then the numbers there is very little change from one number to the next,or what change there is is very subtle in some cases,JMO.Golden color, aroma of grain and light malt with a slightly fruity change.Flavor was much the same as aroma in some ways with a slight tinny taste but over all not to bad at all.The next number might be better but this is passable. leaparsons (4659), Leicester, Leicestershire, England Jun 2, 2006 Bottle. Golden with an initially large head. Aromas are gritty grain with zesty lemon, peppery but quite thin. Flavours are light malts, grain and lemon drops sourness. Fairly dry and addictive on the finish with metal and pepper. Refreshing if cold. ALLOVATE (1126), Perth, Australia May 21, 2006 Could easily fall into the cracks of Euro-lager fame, yet I actually quaffed this one with a degree of satisfaction on my face. Wife even loved it so it can’t be all bad, she says so!! From the bottle into a stein glass. Big fluffy white head formed and struggled to survive atop a slightly hazy lemon-gold body. Amazingly the head lasted ’til empty but managed no lacework. Sweet candyish and sherbetty nose with a base of rye bread, self-raising flour and freshly milled grains. It’s unusual in the mouth and starts with a blend of eucalypt, tea-tree oil and mint leaves, which softens as it warms (I didn’t need a herbal infusion!). Malt is well hidden at first but then shows form in a slightly plastic and pasty way. Mid-palate is herbal tangy and the finish has some sour malt and hops but drops off shy enough to remain fresh for the length. Can’t say this was bad, can’t say it was my thing either, it was just a beer that went down a treat. Above average quaffer!!! (50cL 11/11/05, Jandakot Liquor)
