Odd yeast smells when the bottle was opened. Nice red foil deco. Pours looking nice, with large foam head over brown ale. Sweet nose of malts. Flavor is better than average, esp for the style. Very minimal hop bite, noticable only in the finish. While the palate is a little "off", this was still enjoyable. Pint .9 @ $2.50

Originally rated on 12/12/08. #4 pours a slightly murky deep brown body, with a thin light tan cap that didnt leave any lace. Aroma and flavors of sweet malts, and lots of caramel. Overall it was o.k. but nothing terribly great.

Bottle. Brown with a small head that dissipated after a few minutes.. Malty with a medium body. Quite surprised me in a very positive way being far better than I expected.Pleasant and easy to drink.

BOTTLE 50 CL. Clear ruby-red, beige head. Too much burnt sugar in the nose, along with a little dark malts and some sweet and spicy dark bread. The taste starts sweet, but soon is getting dryer and spicier, even a little salty. Light spicy and hoppy bitterness in the after-taste. Quite a decent dunkel, just a bit too hard on brown sugars.

Clear amber color with tiny beige head. Aroma of caramel. Taste is medium sweet, flauvour of caramel and coffee. A bit sticky mouthfeel, but quite nice dunkel anyway.

0,5l Flasche. Rötlich-braunes Bier mit kleiner Schaumkrone. Riecht angenehm nach Röstmalzen. Schmeckt nach Röstmalzen, leicht nach Maronen.

500ml bottle from Mini Mix, Barcelona (€1.05):
This one was an okay offering from the Baltika brewery without being the best from them that I’ve tried thus far. There was a nice sweetness to proceedings & I quite enjoyed the sticky patches that showed with the beer thanks to the caramel malts & sugars. Overall the balance was good & it was definitely an enjoyable beer but it just didn’t seem to grab me.

Vermelha escura, quase marrom, límpida. Espuma bege, fina, média de média duraçăo. Ameixas, caramelo e mel no nariz. Na boca, ainda, madeira, malte torrado e um pouco e defumado. Sabor adocicado com um pouco de torrado levando a uma leve acidez. Sensaçăo ácida na língua devido ŕ fina carbonataçăo. Corpo médio.

UPDATED: AUG 27, 2016 From a bottle bought in Los Angeles. Poured in a North Coast chalice...pours light brown with head and lace. Aroma of light malts, caramel, minerals, industrial cleaner. Medium carbonation and mouthfeel. Flavors of brown malts, caramel malt, carob, grains, minerals, straw hops, hay, slight peat. Overall fairly rich with a modest malt body, yet some unpleasant and bitter components. August 26, 2016 - Have a new bottle and will take away the idustrial cleaner aroma for this bottle. Overall it’s still not a wonderful beer, but it can offer a malty fix for the late night semi-desperate alcoholic! Gotta say the obvious...imports are subject to enormous hardships that will deminish their taste if not carefully tendered.
