Allie (40), USA Oct 29, 2007 This was part of a Baltika batch that I got recently. The dark brown bottle and simple label design are attractive. The beer poured with a thin, bubbly head that sank and left no lacing. The color was a very dark amber, almost coffee-like. This matched the aroma, which was rather smoky. The flavor was a bittersweet mixture, with some coffee-like taste and faint wheatiness. The alcohol kick is signifcant. The palate was a little thinner than a Baltika 9, but still OK. I didn’t notice any nasty dregs, which was an improvement on the 9. This was a good beer, and could become one of my favorites. It’s good value at $2.05 for a pint-plus bottle
troopie (550), USA Nov 26, 2008 Bottle. Poured deep brown with a thick white head. Aroma of fruit, caramel and raisins. Light malt flavour, with bare tinges of malt, and rye. Flat malt finish. Began very well and ended disappointingly swooper (151), Kladno, Czech Republic Nov 20, 2008 fruits, caramel aroma, red, brown, avrage foam, medium bitterness, light sweetness, medium body, long finish, very good dunkel gringo332 (129), Richardson, Texas, USA Nov 18, 2008 This is one of those beers with a unique taste I run into every so often. Has a very distinct sweetness to it. I’d try it again, and it is well priced. thornecb (1228), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA Oct 31, 2008 Pours deep amber/brown into a shaker. Offwhite head with medium retention leaves no lacing. Nasty, sour caramel aromas and flavors. Russian. Gypsy19 (255), AMERICA RISING, USA Oct 31, 2008 Labeled ’’Baltika 4 Dark Lager’’, same color scheme. Am I seeing this right? This is only a 2.98 here? This is actually a great beer! Surprising since it was only $2.29 for a pint at my local Alibaba’s. Rich caramel taste along with honey, malt, maple, decent hops, and brown sugar. The flavor is excellent, and it rates high in less-tangible aspects as well. A huge surprise here. Highly underrated in my opinion. Thanks Baltika.
