Almost black with a light brown head. Aroma is sweet, roasted malt and liquorice. Flavor is rather sweet and light bitter.Roasted bitter and sweet finish. Easily the best I’ve had from Baltika. 050311

2/28/11. Bottle... Drinking 2-8 in order. Not quite opaque black with a fluddy tan head that fades to a couple millimeters but sticks. Sweet aroma of caramel with roasted malts and faint coffee. Sweet caramel flavor that finishes with big kicks of coffee and dry, roasted grains. Best so far.

16.9 oz. bottle at Russia House is DC. Nothing too memorable about this one. Your average porter. Light malty flavor with no real development of flavors.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 scottw86 (836) - Maryland, USA - FEB 20, 2011
Poured black with a large foamy off-white head. Aroma is nutty with caramel and roasted malts. Some light fruit as well. Taste is quite smooth with good caramel and chocolate malt flavors. Slightly nutty with some molasses. Overall quite good and very drinkable.

I had a Baltika 7 a few minutes ago, and I was disappointed by it. I thought I was going to have the same experience with Baltika 6, but I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this porter. It poured out with a large thick brown head and left lacing the entire way down the glass as I worked my way through drinking it. It’s best described as silky smooth with a good carmel coffee mix that is just a bit sweet. Try one!

Pours a dark, dark brown with a think carmel head. A slight toffee and fruit aroma but nothing like a great porter. Sweet taste with a hint of bitterness. Medium on the sweet and very light on the bitter. Light body with a slight creaminess. This is a fine porter but it lacks the body, aroma, and palate I expect out of a great porter. However, I really can’t complain with a $1.99 price tag for 1 pint 9oz bottle. A must buy.

Very light in color for a porter, was surprised that I could see through the beer in the bottle. Something of a sandy/ creamy off-brown head, that quickly dissipated. Smelled of chocolate, toffee, and almost fruit. Taste was similar to Guinness Draught in regards to malt roastiness, but also had a faint pear taste and some citrus notes. Most unusual for a Baltic Porter, but certainly not a bad beer. For the money, $1.99 for a 500ml, it’s actually a pretty good segue beer.
2.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 crossovert (2547) - Wisconsin, USA - FEB 12, 2011
Nice looking embossed pint .9 ounce bottle, not a pull top like the other Baltika I’ve had, just a normal cap. Pours a dark, dark brown with a nice caramel colored sandy looking head that sits for a little while before receding.
Smell is a bit off-putting. Smells exactly like chocolate root beer. It has that citric acidy/metallic smell in there. Very very sweet smelling.
Mouthfeel like a ultra carbonated Guinness, the taste isn’t much better than Guinness either. The chocolate flavors remain form the smell, as do the metallic notes. Theres also some coffee in there. Alcohol is highly noticeable and burns the throat. The sweetness isn’t too cloying but it doesn’t help the overall taste too much.
Drinkablitliy is average, a 12 oz serving would be a lot more suitable for this one though.
Overall, its a pretty dry and not so desirable baltic porter. It was pretty cheap but still wasn’t quite worth it. Baltic porter is a style I’m normally very in tune with, and considering the name of this brand, this is a large miss in this category. Love Baltika 7 and 9 unfortuneately not this one.
