3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 garthicus (2006) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 6, 2010
Bought this as part of a Baltika gift pack. Appearance: Pitch black with a very small brown head. Aroma: Sweet & nutty, the tiniest amount of smoke with some caramel and chocolate. Flavour: Decent amount of chocolate up front with smoke, nuts and a lasting coffee finish. Such a surprise, for years I’ve been snubbing the Baltika brews and yet all of them have been pretty good and in fact, this one is great.

Only two dollars at HEB. See through on the sides, but very good porter for price. After taste is sort of weird but very drinkable.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 MPA (710) - Amager (form. Nørrebro&Aalborg), DENMARK - JAN 22, 2010
Bottle. Dark with a velvet beige head. Toasted malts, licorice, coffee, cocoa and a little toffee in aroma. Flavour is sweet with brown sugar, some spicyness, a little ripe fruit and a toasted malty bitterness. Quite soft palate.
3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 virtuosovii (103) - California, USA - JAN 18, 2010
Pours almost opaque black with minimal tan head. Aroma is weak, with slight tones of dark fruits. Taste is very sweet and lightly bitter with tones of plum, cherry and some hints of chocolate and coffee. Has a thick feel, creamy, low carbonation with an abrupt finish. Overall it’s a pretty decent beer and it’s cheap. I frequent this one along with the Baltika 4. Cheap, and tasty.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Davros (919) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - JAN 18, 2010
Pours tar black with a large brown fading head.
Aroma shows lots of sweet malt, chocolate, oats, with a faint hint of vegemite in the background that narrowly avoids being offensive.
More roasted malt and sweet dark chocolate show as flavours, along with loads of sweet caramel.
Very slick and creamy with low carbonation.
