Bottle from Market Street Wineshop Downtown Charlottesville. Reddish brown pour with a large head. Good retention and alcing. Big roasted malt aroma with caramel notes. Sweet, fruity and sligtly bitter taste. The roasted malt comes through as well. Thick mouthfeel.

The bottle pours deep chocolate brown moderately dissipating tan head, light barely penetrating. Rich chocolate aroma with some alcohol and very high floral notes. Smooth, lush palate. Very sweet. With soft carbonation the palate still holds up as it warms. It’s a bold syrupy porter.
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 Ethereal (2355) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUL 7, 2008
Bottle brought over from Kaliningrad by one of Masha’s friends, much appreciated. Drunk at tashi’s place, 15th June 2008. Near black in colour and almost totally still, this has a delicate soft malt and dark chocolate flavour and aroma. It’s very smooth with a sweet aftertaste. Brings back great memories of my 2006 road trip to Kaliningrad with tashi and it’s still an awesome beer. The new bottle shape with embossed crest looks really classy and is easier to hold. Now the brewery just needs to see the light and make it readily available in the UK!

Bottle purchased at BevMo in Vacaville. Kinda surprised I have never rated this. Just realized this after reading grant’s review. Aroma is quite pleasant with a great deal of cocoa, anise, and sugar cane. Quite quaffable. Modestly hazy mahogany-amber body with a medium tan head with adequate lacing. A little sweetness to start, before this becomes more anise-like with some definite underlying choco and coffee tones. A bit musty. Finishes pretty burnt and bitter with a deal of hops. This is pretty good stuff, which is a touch of a surprise.

Pours dark brown with a somewhat fizzy/frothy light brown head. Smells of chocolate and caramel. This one is very sweet, infact I think this is one of the sweetest porters I’v ever had. Has notes of coffee, chocolate, caramel and a hint of burnt malt. I don’t prefer to have my porters this sweet but it was still tasty.

Pours a very dark brown with hardly a head. Aroma is of roasted malts and a little bit of coffee and dark fruits. Flavor is very sweet almost of a dunkel rather than a porter.
