500ml bottle. Pours dark brown/black with a tan head. Minimal lacing. Head dissapates somewhat quickly. Aroma of roasted caramal, roasted malts and a touch of alcohol and perhaps vanilla. flavour is sweet, bready, and mildly alcoholic with tastes of caramil, fruit and chocolate. not very bitter at all. mild carbonation.

What an amazing Russian brew!! This bad boy pours up a deep dark brown (almost black) body sporting a huge four-finger tan frothy head. Head retention was a good as it stayed with the brew as it reduced down to about a one-finger head. The smell was just as amazing with wisps of dark chocolate, cocoa powder, and something akin to roasted hazelnuts. The flavors just add to the symphony of delight; dark chocolate, cocoa powder (like taking cocoa powder and adding just a tad bit of water to make a paste and eating it!), caramel, warm bread, plums, raisins, a twinge of hops, cloves, and more! This brew is full bodied (but not too thick) and no real detection of alcohol. Definitely not a session brew as this one is made to be savored very slowly as I found the tastes and smells just amassed as the brew slowly warmed up. Something that could easily be enjoyed all year long, I can see this one being especially comforting on those wintry days spent by the fireside.

Smoky aroma has a strong tone of molasses, as well as a woody hint, and a fair amount of sweetness. It pours a deep opaque sable with a thick tan head that vanishes rather quickly. Flavor has tones of smoked wood, coffee and molasses. Body is on the thin side, and the fizz is only slight, so it is more like soda pop than beer. Still, an acceptable porter.

Bottle. Dark brown with tan foamy head. Strong aroma- brown sugar, grain, toast (?). Lighter bodied than expected but still tingles the tip of the tongue, but not to carbonated. Malty, a little boozy, with hop balance- dry but not too bitter.

Thin weak aromas of chocolate and earth. Some sour, lightly acidic aromas mixed with some sweetness. Light body with fragrances of watery coffee, chocolate and malt. Overall a pretty dull and watery weak experience.

Bottle. Pours dark brown with a light brown head. Aroma of raosted malt, coffee, dark chocolate, smoke. Taste is malt, light coffee and chocolate. Medium body, soft carbonation. 030911

Bottle. Pours a dark brown black with a tall frothy beige head. Nose is light but malty. With chocolate, dried fruits, and dough. Lightly bitter chocolate is the first flavor with raisins, malt, grain, and molasses. A smooth creaminess balances out the dry bitterness. Decent baltic porter.

From a bottle at GBF 2011. Black with medium beige head. Sugary and grainy malt aroma with dark chocolate. Light to meidum bodied, meidum carbonation. Quite sweet with medium bitterness.
