COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A traditional dark beer based on old recipes. "Baltika" brews this beer with the best dark and light malts with the addition of superior hop types and a special strain of yeast. Crystal-clear water and the secret touch of "Baltika"'s brewers make this a beer of unsurpassable quality.
The ingredients are water, caramel malt and burnt roasted malt, maltose syrup and hops. 17°

UPDATED: NOV 17, 2006 Smells and looks great; nice tan head like a stout. This beer also a sting of bitterness to it - also stoutish. But the sweetness is still definitely there. Excellent beer, best Baltika for sure.

The aroma is sweet with molasses, cola, and burnt malt. The appearance is dark brown with a foamy head. The flavor has all the elements from the aroma plus a chemical bitterness and a medicinal quality that really hurts it. The palate is thin. It looks like and smells like it’s going to be great but the taste is not even average. Avoid.

Almost as black as can be, foam lost quickly. Sweet and fruity aroma was a surprise, somehow I waited this porter to have more bitter aroma. Very full body with fruity start. Fruitiness is cut nicely by convenient bitterness, not too dry like some "normal" porters, this is why I like this beer. Ends with warm palate and slightly sweet aftertaste. Very dimensional porter, reminds me little of our Finnish Sinebrychoff Porter.

500mL shared with tastybeer. Pours a deep ruby with a two-finger beige head that has okay retention and pretty good lacing. Aroma is sweet malt, raisins, something like old sherry. Taste is almost all raisins, brown sugar, sweet malt, some hazelnut/creamy notes. Very sweet, almost doppelbock like. Pretty good.

Decent dryish porter. Blackish pour. Caramel notes on nose and palate. Okay.

Bottle at Porterhouse Dublin. Dark beer. Malty nose. Taste of malts again, with notes of chocolate, caramel, toffee. Nice and understated porter.

Pours a black color with a thin beige head. Good aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, it’s somewhat lactic. Good flavor of chocolate and roasted malt with a mild lactic presence. While having the same elements, the flavor is less interesting than the aroma, it finishes astringent and bitter. The body is light to medium with a creamy texture and moderate carbonation.
