3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 illinismitty (2239) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - JUL 19, 2006
Bottle. Wow, I bought this here in Nashville...beer desert of the south. Pours black with a thick diminishing off white head. Sweet aroma of toasted malt, yeast esters, and dark fruit. A european like aroma. Medium mouthfeel and slightly thin texture. The flavor is of mild coffee and caramel nicely balanced by some herbal hops. Slightly dry, bitter finish with a pleasant liquier like alcohol bite. Much better than I expected.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 alexsdad06 (2230) - Ohio, USA - AUG 1, 2007
UPDATED: AUG 3, 2007 16.9 oz. bottle. Pours what appears to be very dark brown, but is actually dark ruby red in the light. Medium beige head fades quickly. The aroma is roasted malt, chocolate, and dark fruits. The flavor has nice roasted malts, light milk chocolate, plums and other dark fruits, and light bitterness. Medium bodied. This is extremely drinkable and the price per oz. is one of the best (less than $2 per bottle). Not quite The Duck Rabbit, but...
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Shag (2229) - Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA - JAN 18, 2005
Wow, what a little suprise we have here. This has to be the jewel in this brewery’s rusty crown. A chocolatey aroma. The apperance is black with a small beige head. A very rich flavor with some cappucino and chocolate. Not too sweet its very well balanced. Dont be scared away by the price or the source, this is a must try.
3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 dchmela (2218) - Orlando, Florida, USA - MAY 19, 2008
Pours a deep reddish black with a thick creamy tan head. Aroma is bready and biscuity, very chewy. Taste is completely different, very malty sweet, roasted grains, chocolate, and dark fruit sweetness. Much thicker body than I thought it would be. Finishes with a touch of malty sweetness, fruit. Really nice, but the aroma was my only problem.

Bottle at Brickskeller in DC. Not as impressed as I thought I’d be when drinking this. Aroma is slightly that of chocolate and roasted notes. Flavor is coffee and alcohol which I didn’t think was masked too well.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 mcberko (2196) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 20, 2010
Bottle sampled at 99 Bottles, pours dark brown / black with a tan head. Aroma of roasted malt and some sweetness. Flavour is similar - sweeter than I’m used to for a porter - definitely Baltika’s best beer by far.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Beerdedone (2188) - Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 1, 2009
Bottle. Pours a very dark brown with a light two finger tan head that leaves good lacing. Aroma was sweet dark and roasty with chocolate, caramel and coffee. Flavor was moderately sweet with caramel, chocolate, toffee, coffee and a hint of dark fruit with a medium body and has a sweet and lightly bitter finish. Decent porter
4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 whaleman (2175) - North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 1, 2004
Dark black beer with burgundy edges and a medium grayish tan head.
Great big malty nose of burnt caramel, roasted chicory, chocolate, rum raisin, and a hint of smoked meat. More rum raisin and smoked ham in the flavor. Nice subtle tanginess ties this together very well. Toasty caramel aftertaste lingers. This is great beer.
