4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 scraff (2118) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - MAY 26, 2004
Right off the bat....Waaay underrated! Good stuff for sure. Deep black, creamy lasting tan head. Nose is full of golden raisins, plums, malted milk chocolate, caramel, anise, and a hint of roasted coffee. Has something about it that even says Belgian. Flavor almost matches to a T, but there is a bit of brown sugar and rum noted as well. Medium to full-bodied, silky, somewhat vinous, chocolate coffee finish. You go Russia!
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 mds (2115) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 15, 2006
Bottle. Pours a dark brown body with light red tinges around the edge and a fluffy yellow head. The aroma is caramel-esque with chalky tart fruitiness and cookie dough notes. Thick chewy chocolately palate and toasty malts along with some hazelnut. Really I quite enjoyed this- very nice, not over the top, just plain good. It’s also dirt cheap.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 jimhilt (2112) - Bow, New Hampshire, USA - OCT 8, 2003
Pours with a five-fingered light brown head that fades slowly and leaves some lace. Good carbonation. Black as midnight. Nose is clearly a sweet, roasted coffee. Starts smooth, malty and strong coffee flavor, finishes with a little hoppiness and bitterness. A very good porter.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Dorwart (2110) - Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA - JUN 15, 2003
Nice thick, creamy head from the pour. Head lasts for a while also and leaves some nice lacing. Rich aroma with a slight touch of coffee, toffee and caramel. Color is a beautiful dark, red/black. Flavor is VERY smooth but not very complex. Can easily drink this right down. Flavor is a little weaker than expected but has coffee, roasted malts, raisins and is a little sweet. Finish is slightly bitter with a nice alcohol flavor and warming. The best Baltika product I have had so far.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 pilsnerrogge (2107) - Finspång, SWEDEN - OCT 18, 2007
bottled Black with a dense head. Sweet aroma with notes of liquorice, black currant and marshmallows. When you taste it you’ll find more sweet liquorice with some shorts notes of coffee. The alcohol gives it a somewhat harsh finish.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 mjg74 (2106) - La Mesa, California, USA - JAN 14, 2005
Pours a deep dark almost pitch black color. Aroma is mostly that of roasted malts and coffee. Beer has a really nice roasted malt flavor. Is somewhat bitter as well. Not quite as rich as some porters. Still it is quite good.
3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 MIBRomeo (2105) - Wisconsin, USA - MAY 22, 2004
good froathy head.. dark color... good carbonation for a porter..
smell was mild but hinted of something sweet that I just can’t seem to place. strong roasted coffee malty style taste w/ just a tiny touch of bitterness.. a good beer for the price that I would definatelly drink again.

Bottle poured into pint glass. Pours a deep mahogany colour with a small tan head. The creamy head lasts well. Nice complex flavour (plums, alcohol) that finishes with just a hint of smoke from the roasted malt. Enjoyable.
