COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A traditional dark beer based on old recipes. "Baltika" brews this beer with the best dark and light malts with the addition of superior hop types and a special strain of yeast. Crystal-clear water and the secret touch of "Baltika"'s brewers make this a beer of unsurpassable quality.
The ingredients are water, caramel malt and burnt roasted malt, maltose syrup and hops. 17°

Bottle@GBBF 05’. Not bad, but a bit thin. Not as good as other porters from the Balric region. Some roast/smoke/choc. Quite smooth, medium bodied, and thankfully not too sweet. Drinkable.

Dark black color with a nice large tan head that's very retentive and excellent lacing. The aroma is nicely roasted with some milky sweet chocolate notes and some light bittering hops. The flavor is creamy with some mocha flavors but a little too astringent with the dark malts, almost seems like not enough alcohol to balance the amount of malts in this. Baltic porters are great in the 9+% range and this one would be too I imagine.

UPDATED: JUL 24, 2006 July 2006 Bottle. Following Michigan Brewers Festival 2006. Bottle. Black body with a good sized creamy tan head. Very lightly roasty, sweet malty aroma. Sweet malty flavour has pleasant cocoa and fruit notes. Average palate is a touch thin but works. A nice Baltic porter. 6-7/4/7/3/15-16 - 3.5<P> April 2004 Bottle. Dark not quite black ruby brown colour pours with a large effervescent tan head. Aroma is of alcoholic coffee with hint of chocolate. Flavour has mildy roasty quality to it with notes of sweet toffee. Body seems light at first sip but has a pleasant medium weight mouthfeel afterwards. Finish has slight bitter astringency to it. Alcohol is warming in the throat but not overwhelming on the tongue. 6/4/7/3/15 - 3.5

This pours deep brown, almost black, into the glass with a minimal brown head. Has a sweet malt aroma with a hint of hops bitterness hitting my nose as I back away from the glass. Medium-bodied, it carries a hint of toffee, anise, and a bit of coffee in the taste. Sweet taste. Michael Jackson (the beer guy, not the creepy pop music fellow) says this is in the top 500 great beers. I say it’s "okay," and I’m the guy currently drinking it.

(Bottle at Delirium Cafe, Brussels) Dark amber, almost black. Small brownish head. Aroma from grapes, vanilla, figs and some chocolate. Malty chocolate flavor with licorice. Some bitterness in the finish. Nicely balanced.
