Gift bottle. Nice brown colour, small head. Toasty aroma. Tastes toasty and fruity, plus something sweet I couldn’t put my finger on, I guess the caramel. Overall, nice drink, not too exciting, but very pleasant.

Pours a dark reddish brown. Almost black with a two finger light brown head. Aroma a bit weak buy with a promise of malt and a bit of alcohol. Taste is roasted malt, a touch of caramel and some roasted malt. Finishes dry with a slight bitter hoppy and roasted note. Quite drinkable.

I used to drink a lot of this beer when I was a student and I didn’t know that it was a baltic porter with 7% abv.

PASTEURIZED
if you like dopplebock, the only one I know of we get in Texas pasteurized, so I turn to it often for a strong lager in the summertime.
Since the TABC (Texas Alcohol Bureau) and Anheuser-Busch still have a stranglehold on Texas tastes. We will probably never see my favorite pasteurized German bocks in our state(EINBECKER). I sometimes drive to Louisiana and bring back Einbecker by the case, so I have some good to go to beer in the blazing summer here. Svyturys Baltijos(Red) is a fair alternative to Baltika, more of a strong marzen than this and sometimes the salty taste gets to me, but it is heat stabilized.
Prost.

Reminded me of a simple sweet stout. Not much complexity--gulpable. A good beginner's introduction to Porter, but not quite the real thing.

A pretty boring porter. Not as sweet as one might expect. Rather light body too. This beer was really talked up to me and it didn’t really deliver. Not a bad beer, but not a great on either.

Bottle. Very dark pour almost black. Very little head that dissipates. Very sweet malty aroma. Dark rich taste with a dry finish.

1 pint bottle. Poured a dark brown, nearly black, with a thick, relatively short lived, light brown head. Aroma of brown sugar, hickory, malt, alcohol, and peaches. Smooth mouthfeel with a distinctive coffee bitterness. Accents of brown sugar prevalent with malt, red apple, and peaches subtly hinting. I also get a distinct wheatgrass aftertaste. Truly an interesting Russian porter with more than a few levels of flavor.

Got the bottle. Pretty much like Danish porters (stick to pilseners guys!) and crap.
