4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 mike mcneil (660) - St Augustine, Florida, USA - JUN 24, 2004
Pours black and thick with a respectable tan head. Gives off mouth-watering aromas of chocolate, molasses, licorice and port wine. Texture is full, smooth and slightly oily with sparing carbonation. Flavor is as luscious as the nose; sweet, but not cloying due to the 7% which is hidden well. Tastes of rich semi-sweet chocolate, coffee and molasses with a slight vinous quality. Reminds me very much of Anchor or Taddy Porter, only a bit beefier. Great stuff!

I really enjoyed this porter. Had a great taste to it and it went down very smooth. Appearance was dark with little head to it as I poured it.

A very good baltic porter. Thick with a nice malt overtone. Does not have a big head but delivers on the taste. a $2 a bottle a good value for Fl.

color is a deep deep brown, no light gets through though. head is tan, and bubbly. aroma is fairly roasty, but more smoky. but the smokiness is not overpowering and is quite complementary. chocolate is there, but VERY subdued. flavor is virtually the same, smokiness, mild roast, mild chocolate, light alcohol, bold flavor...damn good if you ask me.

UPDATED: SEP 11, 2006 Pour is black with a tinge of red on the edges. The head was a frothy cream that disipated quickly leaving decent lacing on the glass. The aroma was bitter chocolate. The taste and mouth feel were nice. Bitter chocolate, caramel, raisin, with a very smooth feel. Quite nice. 8/4/7/4/17
RERATE: Pitch black pour with a creamy mocha head and beautiful cream lacing down the glass. The aroma is mild chocolate and roast. A little sweet. The flavor is more complex then I remember with notes of caramel, peanut butter, sugar, roasted malt. There is something about this beers flavor that makes it stand out. And its a very beautiful beer to behold.

This was a good porter, but I tend to favor this style anyways. Very dark with roasty flavors, this was a good choice!

Smoked malt aroma. Full bodied. Sweetish beer with roasted malt, fruity (raisins). Bitter finish. Excellent beer!
