Received this from a friend returning from Russia. Pours a dark greasy black witha brown foamy head. Decent aroma - lots of chocolate and hints of coffee and molasses? Taste is quite pleasant, bitter with a tingly sweetness in the finish. Overall a fantastic porter that I would like to have more of.

Bottle. Molasses and chocolate malt aroma. Dark black-brown colow with no head. Molasses and walnut flavor - slightly bitter finish. Tasty - stands up well to other porters but can’t really expound as this was my first beer in this style.

nice black pour with a tan head. sugary maple syrup aroma. sweet caramel taste with some fig taste also. a nice touch of bitter is discerniable in the finish that has a grassy flavor. lingering fruity taste. coffee is noticeable as it warms along with a prune note. enjoyable brew, probably my favorite from baltika.

good froathy head.. dark color... good carbonation for a porter..
smell was mild but hinted of something sweet that I just can’t seem to place. strong roasted coffee malty style taste w/ just a tiny touch of bitterness.. a good beer for the price that I would definatelly drink again.

Very nice porter. Has a great roasted taste, coffee and malt. Looks just like a porter should. Has a nice smooth aftertaste, with just enough hops to make this very nicely balanced.

Has a nice head like Balck & Tan, more foam like, not quite frothy. Has a hint of bitter dark chocolate and malty flavor. Thick richness and smooth finish. Never had Russian beer before. This is a pretty good brew.

(04.20.06) One pint 0.6 oz brown bottle from Golden Eagle, Libertyville, IL 7% ABV. Poured brown black with medium tan head. Soft carbonation. Roasted malt and prune in the nose. Medium bodied porter that starts with light malt sweetness and burnt malt/coffee/fruity (prune) flavors. Some sharpness in the mouth. Finished with light roast bitterness. A very good flavorful porter.

(Bottle BB 21/12/06) Roasted malty, slightly licorice and very slightly alcoholic aroma. Very dark red colour. Large, light brown, slowly diminishing head with fair lacing. Burned malty, average bitter, licorice and slightly coffee flavour. Medium to full-bodied and softly carbonated palate. An excellent porter! 14/05/06
