COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A traditional dark beer based on old recipes. "Baltika" brews this beer with the best dark and light malts with the addition of superior hop types and a special strain of yeast. Crystal-clear water and the secret touch of "Baltika"'s brewers make this a beer of unsurpassable quality.
The ingredients are water, caramel malt and burnt roasted malt, maltose syrup and hops. 17°

Slightly bitter, very toasty-roasty taste - literally, smells like slightly burnt toast. In a good way. Not assertive, but I like that about it.

Poured from bottle. Very potent chocolate/roast/burnt sugar nose; I could smell it all the way across the desk from where I was sitting. Color is a very dark brown with lambent red highlights; head is loose but long-lasting. The flavor is very dark and very rich; it puts me in mind of nothing so much as a flourless chocolate cake with maple syrup drizzled on it. You can taste the maltose. Carbonation is subtle and supports the flavor. This beer is as good as Baltika #9 is bad, and that’s saying something.

Taste like sweet coffee, or maybe rye bread. I really like its heavy cloying sweetness. Minus is that the taste disappears too early, after the super promising start. Still, great beer.

Pours totally black with a small tan head. Aroma is sweet roasted malt, caramel and spices. Taste is sweet and strongly roasted malt with notes of brown sugar. Long roasted aftertaste. Really like this one.

(bottle) Awesome looking beer: very dark, almost black and opaque it is dark (but not cloudy) with an excellent dense tan head. Aroma is pleasant, but not very special: toffee and raisins and something a litter sharper, slightly vinous perhaps. Medium body and carbonation and a little bit sticky. The taste has a lot going on; it is quite rich, fairly complex and changes quite quickly making it hard to pin down. Rich stronger flavours from dark malt dominate: coffee, dark chocolate, dark malt, raisins. There are also balancing flavours including caramel, liquorice and something slightly medicinal (but pleasant). There’s a nice bitter finish, more reminiscent of strong black coffee than of hops. Overall, I was very impressed, especially as I am not a great fan of porters; however this is not really what I think of as a porter.

Very smooth Baltic style Porter. Chocolate notes blend well with coffee and toffee. A medium bodied ale with a sweet finish, and has traces of dark fruit and bannana esters. Much less burnt and robust flavors than its American counterparts.

Bottle from Alko. Very dark brown opasque beer with a beautiful beige head. Licourice with roasted malts in the aroma. Strong malty taste has some roastiness, liqourice and dark chocolate. There’s also some hops. Nicely balanced beer with round and smooth mouthfeel, medium/full palate. A very good baltic porter!
