3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 kenb (1102) - Oregon, USA - NOV 9, 2006
UPDATED: NOV 10, 2006 12 OZ bottle via RegallacMC(thanks!). Pours a dark brown almost black with an average size tan head. The aroma is of mocha, toffee, band-aid and vanilla. Taste is of fruity esters-plums, cherries, cantelop, nuts as well as some burnt chocolate and caramel malts. Like many Baltics, this reminds me of a good dopplebock. If there is a Baltic porter that is ’the measuring stick’ for the style this is it..or is it? Seems nobody really know..but i think this is close.... Maybe not the tastiest of them all to my tastebuds, but the baraometer perhaps?

Strong dark amlt aroma. Very dark amber color with a tan/brown head. Smooth malt flavor with hints of caramel. Alcohol slightly noticable. Finishes with some bitterness. Very creamy mouth feel. this is a great beer for the price.

Bought at Marty’s in Allston. They have a great selection of Baltika and Arsenalnoe. Very dark color. Not bitter taste at all, less of a coffee flavor than a regular porter. Very smooth. Quickly fading dark cream colored head.

Another great Baltic porter. If you like sweet malty beers tasting of chocolate then this is your beer. Smooth from start to finish.

A very interesting beer. Aroma is nice with lots of roasted chocolate and spices hints. Appearance is dark brown with a thick head. Mouthfeel is more bitter than i like. Flavor is decent with lots of chocolate and spices involved.

From bottle- poured black as midnight with a thick bubbly head, aroma of darken roasted malts, chocolate, and a hint of sugar. Very nice light brown lacing head. Hits the mouth with a thick heavy malt, many notes of roastedness, coffee, toffee. Finish is lacking for a strong porter, but the alcohol is very well hidden. Beerpagners run from it, but everyone should love this. Aside from the #4, one of their best products.

Magnificent beer. Best of the porters we had at our Melbourne Brewers tasting.

Pours a near black color, some light amber hues around the edges can be seen. Full head at first but diminishes quickly. Smells of sweet dark fruits, and rich caramel. Has a rather suprisingly sweet characteristic to it,some roasted malts are noticeable and definitely rich caramel as well. Finishes light and sweet. This a very nice take on a porter. Very enjoyable.
