3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 jmuhops (666) - Winchester, Virginia, USA - APR 25, 2006
Pours dark brown with an off-white two-finger head. Subtle aroma of coffee, dark chocolate, and alcohol. The same is in the flavor, accompanied by light vanilla, lactose, and hops. Mouthfeel is suitably thin; this is a Porter than knows it’s a Porter. Surprisingly good, considering some of these guys’ other brews.

UPDATED: JUL 10, 2005 (bottle) I was quite impressed by this. An aroma that I can only describe as chocolately-grapey. A flavor that stayed with me from the time my lips touched it to the time I swallowed - very consistent. Quite yummy. I wish I’d had another one.

This pours deep brown, almost black, into the glass with a minimal brown head. Has a sweet malt aroma with a hint of hops bitterness hitting my nose as I back away from the glass. Medium-bodied, it carries a hint of toffee, anise, and a bit of coffee in the taste. Sweet taste. Michael Jackson (the beer guy, not the creepy pop music fellow) says this is in the top 500 great beers. I say it’s "okay," and I’m the guy currently drinking it.

Deep, dark red, almost black with a loose thick tan head. Aroma of chocolate, raisen, some wet cardboard, a little vanilla. Good body, extra clean and smooth with a light but lingering chocolate with a little licorice finish. Delicate roast and dark fruit flavor. Quite nice.

1/2 liter bottle poured a clear, dark reddish black with a lasting tan head. Aromas of raisins, figs, and molasses. Palate was light and smooth. Flavors of molasses, toffee, and figs with a smooth, lingering finish.

1 pint .9 fl oz bottle: Aroma is pretty decent raosted malt overtone, plumes, big on the roast, and a little bit bready. Appearance is a coca-cola dark brown almost black color with a thick tan head that lingers around for a while. Taste has got a nice roasted malt flavor, at first some off oxidization, then melds into a pretty decent aftertaste with the roasted malts coming to the forefront. Overall, Nice baltic porter and definately a good value. Cheers!

Poured a dark brownish-black color with a bubbly tan head that faded into almost nothing. Pretty sweet and dark malty aroma. A full range of sweet maltiness and some roasted bitterness. Hints of raisin, honey, and maybe a tiny bit of blueberry. Medium to heavy body with a good amount of slick mouth-coating sugariness. Great stuff, especially considering the price. I’ll definitely drink this again...
