Full dark brown pour with a beautiful tan head. Nose of liquorice, roasted malts and mild nut. Bold roasted malt taste , liqourice and dry dark chocolates. A dry nutty finish with a medium body. GOOD!

UPDATED: AUG 3, 2007 16.9 oz. bottle. Pours what appears to be very dark brown, but is actually dark ruby red in the light. Medium beige head fades quickly. The aroma is roasted malt, chocolate, and dark fruits. The flavor has nice roasted malts, light milk chocolate, plums and other dark fruits, and light bitterness. Medium bodied. This is extremely drinkable and the price per oz. is one of the best (less than $2 per bottle). Not quite The Duck Rabbit, but...

Bottle as shown. Pours a very dark brown with a small light tan head. The aroma is roasted malt and toffee. Decent lacing on the glass. The taste is roasted malt, chocolate, and licorice with a easy finish. A good porter from Baltika.

Bottle, pours black with dissipating tan head. Smells of roasted malts, dark fruits, caramel, alcohol and slight metallic tinge. The taste reminds me of an imperial stout (albeit, a much lighter version) with its dark fruit and licorice flavor up front.
Mouthfeel is smooth and rather light for a beer this dark; the beer has good carbonation and isn’t all that sticky. It finishes with a strong flavor of roasted malts, molasses and dark fruits. There is definitely a slight alcohol kick in the final notes.
The lingering flavor seems to be a mix of dark fruits, caramel, alcohol and licorice. Pretty decent brew for my first baltic porter. I could’ve used a bit more malt presence, but overall pretty tasty.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Gregis (1250) - Shawnee, Kansas, USA - APR 22, 2008
Best by 24.05.07...oops. Served at cellar temp, it pours black with ruby highlights and a loose, frothy, beige head. On the nose are chocolate and dark roast with fruity wine-like undertones. Light to medium-bodied and almost creamy with a roasted, moderately bitter finish that includes a touch of alcohol warmth. Sweet, chocolaty, roasted malt with a noticeable hop bitterness blending into the roasted finish. It lingers sweet and roasty with notes of burnt sugar and bittering hops. Perhaps, it’s a tad sweeter than I might prefer, but it is a tasty brew. At less than $2 for a 500 ml bottle, it’s also quite a bargain.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 TET (685) - FINLAND - FEB 22, 2010
Black beer with big and beige head. Aroma is roasted, sourness and some liquirice. Flavour is also roasted, slightly sweet, liqurice and more sweetness in the end. Almost full-bodied, smooth and pleasant to drink. Balanced, maybe too easy, but overally pleasant, nicely roasted and high quality porter.

UPDATED: JUN 5, 2008 Bottle. Pours a very dark brown. Some red highlights here and there, but very dark. Huge light-caramel colored head, with brief, cotton-like lacing. Aroma is sweet malts, vanilla, roasted chocolate. Flavor is pretty varied. Caramel, chocolate, bark, toffee, licorice. A watery aftertaste that almost distracts from the flavor. Sticky, soft body. Well-balanced, and one of the easier Baltic porters to drink. Definitely enjoyable.

Pours with a very small tight head with a deep brown almost black color. The aroma is very sweet and malty with some molasses and chocolate. The flavor has notes of plum, nuts, berries, and chocolate. The beer is overall pretty sweet but has enough dryness and alcohol to provide the needed balance.
