COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A traditional dark beer based on old recipes. "Baltika" brews this beer with the best dark and light malts with the addition of superior hop types and a special strain of yeast. Crystal-clear water and the secret touch of "Baltika"'s brewers make this a beer of unsurpassable quality.
The ingredients are water, caramel malt and burnt roasted malt, maltose syrup and hops. 17°

Wow, this stuff was unexpectedly good. Has some characteristics of an imperial stout, yet not quite as hoppy as said impy. Very creamy with a strong dark fruit presence and strong, lingering tar about the mouth. Not overly complex, but strong characters are present nevertheless. Not world-class, but very good.

Having bought this lately, I couldn’t wait to open it. Russia’s number 1. Well that is quite a name to live up to. It mostly delivers just that. I can almost taste the roasted salty fish caught in Siberian waters and the smokey fires that keep the Inuit from Kamchatka warm. I wonder why all those Russians drink vodka if they have this, I definitely prefer this over a vodka. But I’m more of a whisky person anyways. Is that peat in the finish? Ahh, great. I’m off enjoying this further.

Big dark head, clear with red highlights; sharp tongue, quick effervescence, big body, a tad sticky, slightly cloying, bitter and semi-sweet; Big molasses nose and lots of malts. Good drop.

Bottle 50 cl, Alko Loimaa. Pours pitch black with a fluffy light brown head leaving lace. Aroma is very pleasant; sweet, malty, roasted, spicy, eartht and bready. Velvety malty mouthfeel. Flavor is balanced between the sweet, maltu, roasted and bitter with tones of caramel, dark fruuts and raisins. Finishes sweet, roasted and bitter all in balance.

Pours black from bottle with a couple of inches of khaki foam. Nice roasted quality to the aroma. Kind of a thin mouthfeel. Definite caramel malt on the tongue. Finish lingers a bit after you swallow. Nice example of style.
