COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A traditional dark beer based on old recipes. "Baltika" brews this beer with the best dark and light malts with the addition of superior hop types and a special strain of yeast. Crystal-clear water and the secret touch of "Baltika"'s brewers make this a beer of unsurpassable quality.
The ingredients are water, caramel malt and burnt roasted malt, maltose syrup and hops. 17°

Chocolate sweet aroma, pours black with a bubbly off-white head. Very heavy in sweetness, balanced by a bit of hop bitterness. Very clean, leaves a touch of hops and burnt malt in the finish. Overall it is good, very nice with the strong sweetness powering through.

Comes in a gift box for Christmas, with three of their different brews and a tall glass. Last of the three and sampled in its glass. Pours a dark brown colour with red highlights. Its head is big, beige coloured, creamy, foamy, has great retention and leaves a bit of soapy lacing. The nose has dark fruits with hints of nuts, licorice, coffee and chocolate. Medium-bodied and does not look carbonated at all. The taste is pretty good with mild flavours like burnt roasted malt and hop in the finish. Not super bitter, nothing really strong and sticking out. Alcohol is very well-hidden. An easy-drinking porter that is above most Russian beers and well-balanced for newcomers to dark brews.

Pours black with creamy tan head and foamy lacing. Notes of chocolate and coffee. Well balanced taste; bitterness of coffee contrasting nicely with the sweetness of the caramel malt to create a pleasing porter. Smooth and sessionable.

A bottle pour: deep, dark, almost opaque with a big dark tan head. It has a thin burnt malt aroma, with hints of caramel and coffee. Baltika 6 has a medium and a smooth palate, with sweetness - fudge? - in the taste and no bitterness to speak of. It’s a very drinkable porter without a lot of pretension; and (off the shelf at Spec’s here) it offers outstanding value for the money.

Pretty much black with a little red glow shining through. Smells roasty, coffee, wort, hay and iron. Tastes like deep chocolate. Mouthfeel is close to perfection.

Fine baltic porter. Some metallicity in aroma, otherwise technically excellent beer.

UPDATED: DEC 23, 2011 Pours a clear, deep reddish-black with a short tan head that lasts and leaves moderate lace. Malty nose with cocoa and licorice all through this moderately sweet porter. Dark roast malt, cocoa, tea, dates, ripe plums and molasses all present. Medium carbonation, medium-light bodied. Sweetish finish with a faint resinous hops aftertaste.Balance is quite good, better than other Baltic Porters I’ve had.
