COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A traditional dark beer based on old recipes. "Baltika" brews this beer with the best dark and light malts with the addition of superior hop types and a special strain of yeast. Crystal-clear water and the secret touch of "Baltika"'s brewers make this a beer of unsurpassable quality.
The ingredients are water, caramel malt and burnt roasted malt, maltose syrup and hops. 17°

500ml bottle from Bevmo. Pours a deep black color with a tan sudsy had that lingered for only a short time. The aroma was moderate in strength with roasted malts and molasses. The flavors present were molasses, coffee, chocolate and a touch of vanilla. Hops were well integrated and barely noticeable. The mouthfeel was full, smooth and creamy. The finish was short and clean with just a bit of alcohol showing through. Overall: this is a very good porter. Recommended.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown-to-black with a tan head. Nose is of roast malt with some smoke. Taste is coffee, chocolate and raisins. Mouthfeel was medium-to-thin and a bit watery. So-so for a porter.

Poured black with a large foamy off-white head. Aroma is nutty with caramel and roasted malts. Some light fruit as well. Taste is quite smooth with good caramel and chocolate malt flavors. Slightly nutty with some molasses. Overall quite good and very drinkable.

I’m discovering that Baltic/Eastern European porters and stouts seem to be either a hit or a miss. This was a hit. Smooth like silk. Easy drinking (especially for its darkness and strength), a great dessert beer.

500 ml bottle @ home. Rated @ 21.2.2010.
Dark brown colour with a thick white head. Dark fruits, roasted malts and caramel on the nose. Flavour of pleasant roastiness, caramel, mild hops. Medium bodied and a warming finish. Pretty good and goes well with food.
