3.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 ATOmemphis (200) - Franklin, Tennessee, USA - FEB 13, 2006
Pours deep blackish/brown with light creamy tan head. Size wasn’t great on the head, and it did dissipate - a minus for porters/stouts in my opinion. Not much to smell, though mine was slightly colder than need be. The Best Before Date was exceeded by 4 months exactly (to the day). But the taste was quite good. Not so hoppy like the description offers, but quite smooth with light coffee, hazelnut, and cream/creamy chocolate flavors. Very nice for a mild/calm brew.

Bottled had this on a few occasions in St Petersburg early May 05 and have picked this up from the Russian Supermarket on the Cowley Road, Oxford. Dark brown with a slighlty mucky white head, good aroma of chocolate and roasted notes, with chocolate again present in the flavour but also a little bit sweet. A very decent porter and one of the better of the Baltika stable.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 SHIG (2530) - Osan, SOUTH KOREA - MAY 2, 2008
Bottle: Poured a deep black with a tan color head. The aroma is roasted malts and caramel. The taste is smokey and yet sweet and calky almost closer to a stout in my mind, but this was my first baltic porter.

pours almost black with garnet highlights and a huge tan head which lingers. Interesting aroma ... with alcohol and some roast coming thru when cool, replaced with raisins, figs some higher alcohols like a port. Flows very lightly on the tongue. Sweet, alcohol warmth, some fleeting dry fruits some dark malt complexity, with a nice soft long dry finish balanced by the hop bitterness. While on the lower end of the scale of strength a very good Baltic porter. Definitely enjoyable on a rainy California night. For a beer of this strength a little age will help heighten the malt complexity and raisiny character
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 holdenn (1841) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - NOV 7, 2007
Bottle. Pours a dark brown black with a tall frothy beige head. Nose is light but malty. With chocolate, dried fruits, and dough. Lightly bitter chocolate is the first flavor with raisins, malt, grain, and molasses. A smooth creaminess balances out the dry bitterness. Decent baltic porter.

Pours a deep brown. Almost opaque in the glass, with a medium head. Good lacing. Aroma is bitter coffee and chocolate. Taste was plums and chocolate. Medium body. Thin texture. Pretty good, and much better that I expected.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 tytoanderso (1476) - SLP, Minnesota, USA - JUL 2, 2007
Bottle. Pours almost jet black. Off white head fades quickly and leaves no lacing. Chocolate, malt and a hint of dried dark fruit on the nose. Palate is firm with decent carbonation. Roasted malt, oats, figs and raisins, earthy malbec grapes, and dry hops and yeast... I’m a bit surprised. I didn’t expect the flavor complexity. Nice offering.

Bottle poured into pint glass. Pours a deep mahogany colour with a small tan head. The creamy head lasts well. Nice complex flavour (plums, alcohol) that finishes with just a hint of smoke from the roasted malt. Enjoyable.
