3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Sammy (5888) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 28, 2007
Many thanks to Gary, Old Faithful for picking these up in Louisville. True to its porter/imperial stoutish roots, this pours a dark colour with a mocha head. It has above average carbonation and a drop of sourness, all superceded by great balance. There is mocha and fruit in the nose. A medium mouthfeel. A chocolate finish.

Bottle (500ml). Dark ruby-brown with a massive tan foamy head - not a gusher, but it foamed out of the bottle. Roasty nutty aroma, sweet and dark. Taste is quite bitter - roast nutty malt, some chocolate and yeast, quite a bitter finish, nutshell. Thick, oily body, sort of still, long creamy malty finish - pretty decent porter, wish we could get it regularly

Bottle. Pours a dark brown with a frothy tan head that leaves good lacing. The aroma is sweet caramel backed with dark fruits. Sweet flavors of caramel, molasses, and hints of roast. Medium body and sweet throughout. Nice porter!
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 ako (166) - Turku, FINLAND - MAR 13, 2010
Black, tiny brown head. Sweetish aroma, slightly chocolatey. Smooth flavor, a little sweet for a porter. Slightly roasted notes towards the end. A little dryness in the finish. Felt a bit light. All in all, easy to drink.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 kramer (3376) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 5, 2006
500 ml bottle. Pours a very dark brown that lets the slightest amount of light through. The head is two fingers in height with a long retention time due to the active carbonation. Aroma is all malt with roasted, burnt, and caramel aspects. A light chalky dryness as well. Flavor is dominated by roast and caramel. There’s alot of dry chalky astringency on the finish with some alcohol as well. Mouthfeel is on the thinner side with an oily texture and moderate soft carbonation. This was pretty decent, and the best of their offerings. Heavy filtration has taken it’s toll on this though at the same time.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 TheEnemy (561) - Chicago, USA - FEB 9, 2006
500ml bottle. Pours an insidiously dark opaque brown-black, producing a big ol’ fluffy dense long-lasting head that leaves clumps of lace on the sides of the glass. A porter doesn’t get any prettier than this. Aroma of light toasted grain, chocolate, inviting alcohol and an unfortunate metallic note. Flavor is big smooth chocolate, dry grain, slight toasted bitterness, a touch of alcohol, and a nifty hop spice that hints of licorice. Creamy but bafflingly thin palate. More body would make this really good porter an exceptional porter. Still, definitely something I would drink again.

Black coloured beer with some average carbonation and a large brown head. Roasted malty aroma. Full palate, slightly roasted, bitter sprankling. Finish is burned bitter malty with near the end a more alcoholic bitter touch. Nice one
