COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A traditional dark beer based on old recipes. "Baltika" brews this beer with the best dark and light malts with the addition of superior hop types and a special strain of yeast. Crystal-clear water and the secret touch of "Baltika"'s brewers make this a beer of unsurpassable quality.
The ingredients are water, caramel malt and burnt roasted malt, maltose syrup and hops. 17°

Pouors opaque with creamy light brown head which dissipates after about two minutes. Chocolatey aroma with little hop nose. Smooth velvety, malty body with slight hop bitterness. Nice silky finish. Pleasant beer. The Russians have done this one well.

Opaque black with tanned steady creamy head. Roasted and slightly sweet and alcoholic aroma. Smooth coffee palate, malty. This is an excellent brew!

Really unique. Pours a thick black/brown. STRONG caramel, maltey nose, mostly caramel. Brown thick head. Sweet syrup, caramel, mollases flavor. You can definately taste the alcohol but not so much as to be off putting. Was surprised with this one considering how little I liked their ale.

Another Yum Yum. Poured a very dark brown almost black with big tan head. Aroma was hops and a little smokey. Flavor was of chocolate molasses and some coffee, bitter aftertaste. Nice nice beer.

1 Pt. 9 oz. bottle. Poured black with dark red brown edges and an average size, mostly lasting creamy tan head. Aromas are heavy malt: coffee, cola, molasses, chocolate covered Turkish delight, and some faint alcohol. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, but never harshly so. Some notes of amaretto as the glass warms. Average carbonation, medium body, clean mouthfeel. Has many charcteristics of the imperial porter, but not as top heavy, and thus I find it more enjoyable. A pleasant surprise.

Bottle. Dark color, nearly black but clear. Large billowy, brown head. Complex malty aroma, semi grainy, some alcohol, touch of chocolate and soap? A rich yet clean flavor profile. Resembles a schwarzbier for me. Kind of lager like, but very complex. Lighter than expected body. Low carbonatin. Good.

Excellent porter with brilliant aftertaste. Be sure to buy one that bottled in St. Petersburg.

UPDATED: SEP 18, 2007 this porter is the best of all the porters we tested from the former Soviet Union countries... rich, smooth, chocolaty and not as syrupy sweet as some of the others from those countries
