UPDATED: SEP 18, 2007 this porter is the best of all the porters we tested from the former Soviet Union countries... rich, smooth, chocolaty and not as syrupy sweet as some of the others from those countries

This is a great beer that exemplifies the Baltic style porter. I buy this beer over and over again. I do agree that this is a full beer and might be a little heavy for mowing the lawn; however, this will undoubtedly keep you warm through the winter. I get a black, very full body, with a toasty, malty, chocolaty, tastes. A definite malt character that is reminiscent of "Whoppers" chocolate malt balls. A lightly sweet beer with little hop aroma and medium bitterness back end. The alcohol is there (7%) but not too forward. DRINK IT!

0,5 l bottle, bought at Törökbálint- Cora shops: Russian shop of Arbat. Dark brown body with a small creamy, delicious beige-light brown head. Aroma of coffe, caramel, dark fruits. Smooth mouthfeel, complex flavor with chocolate, roasted malt, coffe, some caramel. Pleasant aftertaste of roasted malt and coffe. Tasty, like it.

Intense chocolate nose w/molasses. Almost jet-black, long lasting pillow of tan head. Dark caramel sweetness, alcohol cuts nicely...has good balanced bitterness. Roasted malt is just right not too overwhelming. Almost like a lighter Imperial Stout--which makes sense...First try of this style, very impressed...

Just a really nice porter, can’t say enough good things about what Baltika is doing for Russian beer, great product, nice color, great nose and a very smooth finish, not a really big porter, very easy drinking, great roasted malts and caramel. Great balance for a porter, enjoy with a cigar and an beer magazine on your porch.

A black pour with crimson highlights and a loose, tan head. It has a rich, malty aroma filled with caramel and some faint plum. The light body has a creamy texture with average carbonation. The taste is moderately sweet up front then fades to roasted finish.

Bottel (0.5) Nice dark colour with a creamy beige head. Nose has roasted malt, caramel and hints of sugar and coffee. Flavour has a good balance between sweet syrupy, caramel and roasted malts. End has some licorice in it.
