Ethereal (894), London, Greater London, England Jul 7, 2008 Bottle brought over from Kaliningrad by one of Masha’s friends, much appreciated. Drunk at tashi’s place, 15th June 2008. Near black in colour and almost totally still, this has a delicate soft malt and dark chocolate flavour and aroma. It’s very smooth with a sweet aftertaste. Brings back great memories of my 2006 road trip to Kaliningrad with tashi and it’s still an awesome beer. The new bottle shape with embossed crest looks really classy and is easier to hold. Now the brewery just needs to see the light and make it readily available in the UK!
OD40oz (400), Box Elder, South Dakota, USA Sep 7, 2008 Nice dark brew with a thick tan head. This definitely wasn’t the best porter I have had but it was nothing to complain about. Caramel, chocolate taste. I wouldn’t go out of my way to drink this again but I wouldn’t complain if someone handed me one. Beer_Hawk (705), Murfreesboro, Tennessee, USA Sep 5, 2008 Bottle. Pours a dark brown with a frothy tan head that leaves good lacing. The aroma is sweet caramel backed with dark fruits. Sweet flavors of caramel, molasses, and hints of roast. Medium body and sweet throughout. Nice porter! KawaBomber (149), New Jersey, USA Sep 4, 2008 1 pint .9fl oz Bottle: Pours deep brown w/ a nice brown head. Aroma is dominated by sweet malts w/ some caramel peeking through & a bit of grain. Flavor is heavy on the roasted malts. A bit on the sweet-side up front then a nice bitter bite. Caramel & burnt coffee w/ a little nip of alcohol present. Nice & smooth, me likey. nbutler11 (164), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Sep 4, 2008 Pours black from the bottle with a ruby tint and soapy brown head. Smells of barley and alcohol (particularly as the beer warms) and tastes of smokey malts, powdered cocoa, and mild caramel. This won’t exactly put Russia on the brewing map, but it’s a solid effort and certainly worth trying. MoritzF (3883), Ruhrpott, Germany Aug 31, 2008 (bottle) Clear, dark, almost black coloured hue with a ruby shine and a thick beige foamy head. Sweet, dark and roast-malty aroma with caramel, cacao and liquorice. Sweet and bitter flavour, almost full bodied with a calm and smooth carbonation. Roasty malty taste with chocolate, liquorice and traces of coffee; bitter-sweet and burnt malty finish with notes of alcohol and a moderate length. Not overly fine and a tad too sweet Porter but anyway a pretty quaffable one (18.08.08).
