Smells like a Milky Way bar -- chocolate and caramel! Pours dark brown with red tints when held up to the light, with a thin tightly packed tan head. Tastes like cocoa, hardly even seems like a beer! Very tasty. Thick consistency, goes down smooth and creamy.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 dexcansino (249) - Andalucía, SPAIN - MAY 14, 2013

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 Jamedra (28) - CZECH REPUBLIC - APR 21, 2013
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Bierkrug (1919) - Idar-Oberstein (In Iraq), Rhineland-Palatinate, GERMANY - APR 16, 2013
500 ml bottle from the Mix Markt in Idar-Oberstein, Germany. Pours black with a caramel tint and a moderate tan head. Some bread and caramel and malt aroma. Taste is roasty with very mild sweetness and a hop bitterness and a slightly astringent finish. Lots of sparkling carbonation. Decent beer. I think this might be the best beer I have had from Russia.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 wildbeercat (119) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - APR 13, 2013
16.9 fl oz / 500mL bottle into a pint glass. Served cold.
Aroma: Chocolate, coffee, roasted malts, and a little caramel sweetness.
Appearance: Barely translucent dark brown/deep red/violet. Thick dark tan head that goes away quickly. Light to no lacing.
Taste: Dark, bitter chocolate. Almost a little smoky. Maybe the slightest hint of anise in here. Really a delicious porter.
Palate: Full body, a little heavy, but not overpowering. The 7% alcohol isn’t obvious. Creamy, rich, and full.
Overall: Wow what a great porter! This stuff is fantastic. I wasn’t expecting much after drinking Baltika 2-5, but this stuff is really, really good. I’m pleasantly surprised!
3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Cantabrian (383) - Christchurch, NEW ZEALAND - APR 5, 2013
Not a bad Baltic Porter at all. Aroma is not too thrilling, with a lot of karamel, ashes, over a faint nose of a cheap dunkel. That is so un-porter that it makes it difficult to believe it is brewed "according to old English recipes" as advertised. As a true Baltic Porter, it is likely made with lager yeast, but I cannot vouch for that. Anyway, I get flavours of chocolate, a good dose of maltiness, a nice peaty bitterness that rolls around the mouth, releasing the alcohol that was fairly well-hidden, a sort of a quarter of a dram that would have been poured into the bottle. . The beer is rather thin bodied, but it still gets you that rubbery feel under the bite. I’ve been to Russia a few times in a different life, and I wish they had offered me this Baltic Porter as a choice.
