2.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
500 ml bottle from Bevmo. Pours a yellow gold with just the slightest bit of cloudiness. Head is white and sudsy but fades quickly. Aroma is very weak with just a hint of straw. Flavor is one dimensional--light bananas in a light corn syrup. Mouthfeel was a bit thin and watery with an after-film, the carbonation was light. Finish is light and dry with bananas. Overall, I expect much more in the way of bold flavors from a fine hefe, and while this is a good product it is not a great one.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottled 27.11.14, BB 27.11.15.
Cloudy, light orange, a bit murky makes it look darker, with a bright yellow hue. Big bubbly, white head.
Light h2s (easter eggs), clove is peppery and a light zest, banana is strong (runt candy). Faint dms (rotten tomatoes) and/or an armpit B.O. (something is off). Soft up front, elegant turns to a zesty pepper bite at the end. Dry finish with a lingering of metallic bananas. Body is lighter than most German interpretations but still old world, weissbier, not an AM version. More watery than a Franziskaner.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Baltika is one of the less appealing wheat beers I have tasted. The pour is very cloudy and even dirty. The stuff looks and smells like unfiltered home-brew. The taste is overly spiced, light, and slightly astringent. It’s not bad but it’s quite out of balance. My overall impression is of an unrefined home-brew.

I take this beer after doing a running session of 30 kms, preparing marathon. Looking for a cold beer without alcohol, regenerating without complexity, remove thirst and hydrate myself quietly with pleasure. I guess. No need to look for anything else.

Bottle some time ago. I have vague, but fond memories of drinking these with one of my old buddies. Oh, they’re not good, but the memories are. Hazy golden color, booze, banana, wheat. Malts. Banana.

Bottle sample at BEERS 2015, Tel Aviv. Slightly hazy golden with off-white head. Aroma of wheat, banana and hay, hint of nail polish. The flavor has notes of banana and wheat, light sweetness and light sourness, a bit acidic. Very carbonated, medium-bodied.
