A strong lager beer with a taste close to classic lager varieties. The flavor is light and there is a suggestion of malt, together with sweetish notes and mild hops bitterness.
Ingredients: water, light barley malt, maltose syrup and hops.
Produced since 1998. 16.5°

Malty lager-like aroma. Watery, but with a certain taste of alcohol and skunky malt. Not particularly appealing.

Chuť piva vzdáleně připomíná sladký bochník, má lehkou kávovou stopu a silnější alkoholový dozvuk. Celkově není příliš hořké a působí velice ležérně, vyznačí se spíše u večerního popijení u televize než-li k pití a hašení žízně.

16.9oz served into a Great Divide pint glass. A - After opening I noticed a rust ring around the opening of the bottle. Pours a brilliantly clear golden color with a bright white head that leaves some lacing behind. S - Sweet and sour grain, apple juice, T - Apple juice, very sweet rice malt, chalky yeast on the finish. Not a whole lot going on. M - Firm body with ample carbonation. Not too bad. Very sweet and the alcohol wasn’t that noticeable. Good mouthfeel as well. Serving type: bottle 05-04-2012

Drank from a stein. I appreciate the alcohol strength, but this is kind of nasty on the aftertaste.

pours pale yellow, with light white top, no lasing. aroma of too sweet, honey, sugar aded beer, also some robust spicy-herbal hops, light intensity. And taste is again too sweet, like nothing more only sugary-water. the same syrupy palete, medium body, long discustingly sweet finish. Start to think that it is very hard to brew good imperial pils or lager. although this one is not so alcoholic.

Bottle @ Porterhouse Dublin. Is that sauerkraut, anise, and corn syrup all in one quaff?

Head that lingers. Aroma of grapes and basil, Golden malt flavor. Some sugary mouthfeel, but quite dry for the percentage.

16.9 fl oz / 500mL bottle into a pint glass. Served cold. Aroma: Faint cereals, especially corn. Not a lot of malt. Slightly acidic. Some sweetbread. Appearance: Transparent bright yellow; no head. Taste: White bread. Sweet corn. Nothing else. Points for being non-offensive, lack of points for being horribly dull. Palate: There and then gone. Not persistent, light-medium body. Overall: I don’t understand how Baltika can make amazing beers like the 6 and 8 but then make mediocre beers like the 2, 5, especially the 7, and the 9. :( not impressed at all. You can’t make a bland, flat beer with 8% abv and expect it to be amazing; that’s not how it works. Beers need depth and character. Baltika 9 lacks both.
