A strong lager beer with a taste close to classic lager varieties. The flavor is light and there is a suggestion of malt, together with sweetish notes and mild hops bitterness.
Ingredients: water, light barley malt, maltose syrup and hops.
Produced since 1998. 16.5°

Judging from the picture this beer is Baltika 9 Krelkoe, which is the one I’ve tried. Pale yellow. Fruity aroma. Alcohol is prominent, rather clean, but some vegeatble aroma. Sweet, low bitterness. Typical malt liquor.

Malt and corn nose. Morning urine color, soapy head. Sugary and corny with a sticky mouthfeel - it hides the alcohol behind sweetness - and now my drain is hiding the brew.

Bottle...although I don’t think draught would’ve helped matters much. Poured out a very pale yellow-gold...minimal head. Skunk-malts dominate the aroma....and they got skunkier as it warmed in the glass. The flavor was dominated by sweet malts, some bitterness, but I fear it was due to something other than hops. You can sense the alcohol...there was nothing else there to mask that. Yep...EuroColt45. Blah.

Bottle, picked up at the Russian delicatessens on Cowley Rd, Oxford 18-12-06. Pours a quite light golden colour, initially seemed heavily carbonated resulting in a flurry of belching, but it and I calmed down a bit. This is way too harsh, alcohol too present, strange sweetness,in fact I can see me slinging the rest of this bottle before I finish this rating, bloody awful, nope that’s it down the drain for you boyo!

UPDATED: MAR 21, 2012 Bottle from Matt Geyer at CAH. the plastic bottle looks like a giant but plug. Pours dehydrated piss color. Nose of floor cleaner and morning after a frat party. First sip is spoiled cider with boozy formaldyde. Finish is least offensive part. Russian Colt 45. Prrobably the worst beer I ever had.

If a Malt Liquor and a Strong Cider were to have a baby, this would be it. Sweet alcohol and malty notes along with a gross cardboard flavor is pretty much all you get with this beer. Along with the flavor, the carbonation is way too intense and feels really bad on the palette. It’s a Russian Malt Liquor calling itself a "Strong Pale Ale", avoid this at all costs!

Very light gold color. Small head. Aroma is slightly malty and sweet. Its very sweet, lots of corn added?. The corn flavor is balanced by a strong alcohol flavor. No hops to speak of, yet there is some bitterness whose origin I don’t really want to know. This stuff is really awful. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean. Aftertaste is chemical and bitter.

Very very light in colour, with a white head. Almost no aroma, but some detectable metallic smell. Somewhat sweet taste, but thats about it...Nothing more than a flavourless, colourless bottle of russian water....with eight percent alcohol squeezed in somehow!

Pretty terrible. The first and possibly the last russian beer I will try. * Had this at a beer club meeting with many other beers, hence I don't remember all my comments - only the ratings which I wrote down at the time.

UPDATED: FEB 18, 2005 Light golden color, sweet alcoholic aroma and taste, light thin body, light thin alcholic finish. Sh*t
