UPDATED: JUN 13, 2004 Bottled. Hmm, it’s been a while since I had a malt liquor; think back to winter of ’89, I was hangin’ wit’ my homez, splitting a 40 of St. Ides at the White Castle on 115th... But this is a different time and place, specifically, Russia. Has the same cloying sweetness of a Baltika 3. Yes, I can already feel the alcohol headache coming on. I guess it’s just a shade below an inoffensive beer. Well, I was warned about the beer in Russia, wasn’t I?
Re-Rated, canned. Okay, trying it again, the alcohol warmth is kind of welcoming. There's still a big sugary taste, but for some reason it doesn't bother me as much.

500ml can from Walmart, Xiamen. Pours golden with a rapidly disappearing head. Malty aroma, sweet malt finish. Plenty of body. All this has going for it is the alcohol.

Can. Pale yellow with small foamy white head, crisp malt aroma, sweetish taste with doughy flavor, low carbonation, abrupt finish with slight metallic aftertaste. Nothing too remarkable about this beer,

---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

500 ml bottle into lager glass, best before 12/6/2014. Pours fairly crystal clear bright golden color with a 1 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of pear, apple, white grape, cracker, bread, honey, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Okay aromas with decent balance of pale malt, earthy hops, and fruity yeast ester notes; with solid strength. A bit too fruity/estery on the nose. Taste of lemon, pear, apple, cracker, bread, honey, herbal, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Fair amount of earthy/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, pear, apple, cracker, bread, honey, herbal, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Nice balance and robustness of pale malt, earthy hops, and yeast ester flavors; with a good malt/bitterness balance and no cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, moderately crisp, and slightly slick/sticky mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with only a small warming present after the finish. Overall this is a pretty solid pale lager style. Good balance and robustness of pale malt, earthy hops, and fruity yeast ester flavors; and smooth and crisp to drink for the ABV. A pleasantly enjoyable offering.

Flaska från @msbrindbergs, tack! Gul vätska med vitt skum. Förvånansvärt lätt doft och smak. Jag förväntade mig värre.

Light off whitee diminishing head. Pale clear golden body. Not much lacings to talk about. Aroma; wort, caramel malts, brown bread. Taste; caramel malts, apple, alco hops, bitter syrup. Somewhat sticky on palate. Finishes fruity in a way. A bit too boozy for my taste. ["Baltika 9 Extra" 50cl brown embossed bottle, 8%abv, BB17.11.14]

"Another Baltika from BevMo. Cheap brews...i’ve had some quality ones. This is kinda good for a lager/strong lager, but ultimately forgetable. Alcohol shows through some very light grassy hops and honey sweetness. Nothing is off too much, but everything is just below average."

One of the Last Russian beer Bottle from Alko, Hyvinkää. Pale with minimal head. Malty aroma. Sweetness and light bitterness. Strong beer without too much awearness of alcohol. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

From Russia with love literally! Baltika #9 actually stronger at 8 ABV than the #6 Baltika porter with a 7% ABV. Kind of a hybrid that is kinda different initially tasting then finishes with a bock like sweet finish. Also kinda tasted like a milder version of the baltika #9 for sweetness which is oddly appealing. pretty sweet taste for a lager but definitely better than macro brews. Available at Bevmo for $2.49 a bottle a descent price. Only real down note kinda lingering headache from cheaper sweet additives.

Golden yellow, minimal white head. Mild fruity aroma with some orange. Quite nice taste with slight sweetness. Soft mouthfeel, mild carbonation. Pretty good for the style.
