1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 8/20 Eyedrinkale (3214) - Astoria, New York, USA - MAY 25, 2008
Bottle. Pours gold with a big bubbled white head. Aroma is just like the taste, cereal with honey. Sweet and mellow with a touch of toast. If you didn’t know this was a beer, you may not think it was. It may have the thinnest of bodies I’ve had in a long while.
1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 Walt (2449) - Austin, Texas, USA - MAY 18, 2008
Pour is golden yellow with a thin soapy white head...smell is sweet corn and slightly starchy, like a wet raw potato...thin watery mouthfeel...taste is lightly grainy and sweet with some luscious corn notes...blech....
2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 Plovmand (5712) - Helsinge, DENMARK - MAY 12, 2008
Bottle. Pours clear golden with a medium white head. Aroma is slightly hoppy with some malts and hay. A pretty thin body covers a light fresh taste of grain, hay and pilsner malt. Easy to drink. Fairly good on a hot summer day.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 jbrus (4992) - Delft, NETHERLANDS - MAY 4, 2008
Bottle@Home. Sweet corn and apple aroma but not unpleasant. Yellow color, white head, good lace. Very sweet for a lager, light bitter, grainy, hints of apple. Medium body and mouthfeel. Not really bad.
1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 Kinz (2971) - Glen Allen, Virginia, USA - APR 30, 2008
This is a beer for those who say that there is "nothing to write about" when reviewing a pale lager. The nuances of nasty flavors in this are actually rather complex, and worthy of more than a pithy "this sucks." Medium towards pale yellow, decent lasting white head, left pretty good lacing. Appearance not really bad. Aroma is very grainy with a nice dose of adjuncts, my guess would be rice is the main culprit here. Flavor is a bizarre mix of cloying sweetness, off flavored grains that have a decided cardboard note, a hint of damp hay, and a faint chemical note that I can’t put my finger on. Carbonic bite actually helps reduce the sweetness. And now that I’ve bashed this beer with little mercy, I find myself forced to say that it was a bit better than I was expecting. Purchased at the Kroger near where I work that has this bizarre "Wall ’O Baltika."

(Bottle 50 cl) Clear golden with a very white head leaving some lacing. Unclean aroma of brewing cereal. Medium body with sweet malts and brewing cereal. Short and dry finish. But overall fairly decent considering it being a Russian Pale Lager. 250308
