Bottle at Mondiale 2010. Pours a dark hazed woody brown with a big head- diminishes a bit. Aroma is big sweet fruity esters, apple, raisin, banana, then some slight paper, soy oxidation of the malts, some light plastic phenols, dark roasty wheat, ashy with nuts. Flavor is wheat, dough, more apples, slight oxidation, burnt malts, toffee, sweetness, caramel, honey and corn sugar with some fruity ester and spritzy slightly harsh phenolics. not great, but ok from Brazil.

Bottle @ Mondial 2010. Aroma has a full wheat, and a hint of smoke? Very dark hazy brown, tiny tan head. Flavour is a roasted malt, loads of wheat, some caramel notes. Medium bodied, very well balanced, sweet and pleasantly bitter. Terrific!

Mondial de la bière Montréal 2010
Aroma ripe fruity feel , alcohol , hint of prune and raisin. Fairly mild. 6-
Appearance dark brown , hazed , cloudy with light creamy head.3-
Flavor and Palate : strong fruit feel followed by raw wheat. Slight sourness that sometimes pair itself with wheat grains. Lighter mid with noticeable alcohol burn. Nothing special.

Drank on day 3 of the 2010 Mondial de la Bière. Reddish brown hazy, small head. Fruity aroma of sweet caramel, well licor. Taste a bit of fruit tart, not very malty, aftertaste of semisweet vegetable. Good but ordinary for its style!

My Bottom Line:
This Weizenbock’s aroma promises plenty of caramel malt and clovey phenols but the flavor profile also develops tart fruitiness which undermines a building complexity.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam tops the cloudy reddish-brown (as is expected of the style).
-A light biscuit character appears under the crystal malts.
-The nose is that of an authentic Weizenbock, but the flavor profile leaves to be desired somewhat. That tart fruit salad is quite strange...
-Carbonation was soft and drinkability rather high.

Bottle.
