2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 tombyars (1102) - Saltcoats, SCOTLAND - MAR 21, 2012
Tasted this in the Three Judges, Glasgow in January 2012. Cask, handpump dispense. Crystal clear pale amber in colour with a thin white head. Short wheaty note in the short cereal aroma. Thin resiny mouthfeel and decent lacing. Pale malt gives a dry digestive biscuit base. Dry dusty hop resins give a long bitter aftertaste with a strong astringency. Finish is very dry and bitter with hop resins present in the palate. An ok session bitter if you like them very dry. Not my cup of tea though.

Cask gravity, Cov 2011. Orange gold with a fast-dispersing bubbled top. Bilious, lightly resinous aroma with a glaze of beeswax.. Soapy bittering hop, orange peel hints- it’s more the seawater and rich tea biscuit character that shines through than the NZ stuff. Cream and biscuit linger. Very disappointing.

Cask @ Freshfield Hotel Formby. I appear to be drinking a completely different beer to the other posters . This is a straw coloured ale with quite a substantial head. Sweet on the palate followed by a bitter kick on the swallow. A very palatable & drinkable beder drinking below it’s abv.
