Has a grassy nose that is enjoyable, and its medium body is also a nice feature.

Tasted this bitter at the Paisley Beer Festival in April 2005. Cask, gravity dispense. Pale opaque straw in colour with an open white head. Slight citric note of grapefruit in the short aroma. Thin mouthfeel and poor lacing. Pale malts give a cereal wheaty taste with fruity citrus note of grapefruit. Good hop presence with a dry bitter aftertaste. Finish is rather dry and astringent. An ok bitter but nothing exceptional.

Newcastle Town FC Beer Festival. A fruity start to a well hopped golden ale. It certainly the time of year for this type of beer and this does not disappoint.

Cask@Derby Beer Festival 2010. Vibrant golden beer with a fairly strong smooth head. The aroma is mildly dry, and the flavour is smooth and dry with fruity elements. Overall a reasonable dry and fruity beer.

Cask in the Market Porter. Alround rating: Pale and lightly buttery malt, a bit of oat or wheat character coming through some banana like fruityness, hop balances nicey. Easy drinking stuff.

Cask at Harkers in Chester, UK. Rich and caramelly in flavor and color with a nice bitter finish. Creamy white head that leaves little lacing.

Cask conditioned at The Last Drop Inn, York. Gold with white head. Grainy and a little tart with an odd taste of lime juice, almost shandyish in character. Not really to our taste, a definite Old Slapper in its way.

A Mes rate: Cask at the Marble Arch.
A very pale gold with a sparkler induced head and lace. Slight sweaty socks in the aroma but with some decent malt and hops underneath. I get the feeling I have said that before about a Bank Top beer. Nice hoppy flavour and something I can only describe as a fresh towel after a shower. Ok, maybe I’m loosing my marbles a little. Bready malt finish with some eventual bitterness. Typical run of the mill northern bitter.

(Cask at Crown, Stockport, 29 July) Colour is golden amber with a frothy white head. Nose is fruity with lemon and a grassy hop aroma. Taste is fruity with lemon, grapefruit and a grassy hoppiness in the long, rather dry, finish. Very refreshing.
