COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Filtered
Ingredients: Water, Malted Barley (2-Row British and Australian), Hops (Yakima Clusters and Styrian Goldings), Yeast, Sugar, Corn Syrup
Launched: 1961
Banks Beer, the beer of Barbados, is a premium pilsner style lager with a smooth, fresh aroma and a medium alcohol content. Banks is brewed from a pure classic blend of 2-Row British and Australian malted barleys deliciously flavored by Yakima Clusters and the noble Styrian Goldings aroma hops. It is however Barbados’ water, naturally filtered through limestone rock, along with our own special strain of yeast, which give Banks Beer its unique Bajan character and distinctive quality. Consistently the #1 choice among beer drinkers in Barbados since it was first produced in 1961.

Bottle @home. Pours clear golden with a creamy white head. Malty aroma. Taste malt, light bitterness, hint of lemon but rather watery. Can imagine this is really refreshing on a warm day.

Think this a perfect summer BBQ beer, for lager fans. Good with food. Better than a lot of the dreck out there.

On this occasion, in a can at Shirley Heights, Antigua. Fairly typical Caribbean lager, thin, slightly skunky, yellow. Not the worst of a bad bunch but not great either.

Bottle from Tesco. Clear straw colour, small white head. Bog standard light lager. Smells better than it tastes.

Pours a clear very pale yellow with a thick white head. Aroma has slightly boozy and skunky notes...like a bad Heineken light. Flavor follows suit...some stale grass and straw. Mouthfeel is light / medium and the finish I’d dry and mildly skunky/grassy.

Sampled from a bottle purchased at Tesco. Pilsner-style lager with a golden colour and a white head. Not much aroma. The malt taste is sweet, with a flavour of corn syrup and a hint of lemon. Light, grassy hop flavour. This is actually quite a pleasant hot-climate lager. I would much rather drink this beer than a Bud. Quite drinkable.
