0.5 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 1/20 hopscotch (7523) - Vero Beach, USA - JUL 12, 2007
UPDATED: AUG 28, 2008 Plastic bottle... RBSG 07... Light yellow lager with no head at all. Smells and tastes like an armadillo that has been hit by an eighteen-wheel freight truck doing 80 MPH on a desolate desert highway. The temperature is 110° F and it’s been lying dead all day in the hot sun and repeatedly run-over by motorcycles, cars, Cooper Minis and trucks. It’s also been nibbled by coyotes and vultures. Then a highway sanitation guy picked it up and threw it into a bathtub full of semi-chilled, used bathwater. The armadillo gets taken out of the tub and discarded and someone bottles the bathwater and slaps a "Banks Award Winning Lager" label on it. So, in short, this beer smells and tastes really bad. Thanks to yespr for allowing me to try this beer. Without having tried this one, Ojo Malo would still be the worst beer I’ve ever tried.

I might not be a beer connoisseur as far as being able to explain aromas etc etc like some people but I’ve drunk a hell of a lot of beers in my time and all I know is this hits the spot really well. Probably not a big coincidence that I am writing this in the summer time as it is obviously from Barbados so meant to be very refreshing in heat etc but I’ll be getting some more from tesco in the near future thats for sure. Thankyou very much Banks and thank you Barbados

4.7% gold colour with no head, sweet malt aroma, sweet fizzy malt taste, refreshing.
2.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 BlackHaddock (1709) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - MAY 18, 2012
From BA in Jan 2009: This brown 275ml bottle (4.5% ABV) claims to be brewed in Guyana but there is no brewery listed for Guyana so I am reviewing this beer that my wife found for me on here (she found it in London).
Poured into my favourite glass of the moment, a La Chouffe Tulip.
Lively looking thing, plenty of bubbles rising to the good firm white head. The body was a pale gold, straw blonde colour. Not quiet as clear as a European lager/pilsner, a slight haze more than a cloud prevented it from looking clean and clear, there appeared to be a few ’floaters’ in there too.
Normal 3 score for a lager non-aroma. As the beer warmed a slight hop and yeast smell did appear, but the score stays at 3.
I have already reviewed pilsners from Barcelona and Munich before this one tonight and it holds up very well against those two (Damm Estrella and Augustiner). It has both body and flavour, nothing great, but it doesn’t conform to the normal lager/pils blandness. An unusual depth and richness that isn’t seen in this style very often.
Can’t put my finger on it, but this isn’t a bad beer at all. Different and a pleasant surprise to be honest. Glad I was given it as a Christmas present, beats socks and pants hands down!

Bottle at home. Just a standard lager. Not really much of an aroma other than your standard lager. Looks like lager. Big head that died down quickly. Really dry mouthfeel. Not many flavours going on. Not in a rush to get it again.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 czar (1205) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - APR 13, 2012
pours clear pale golden with a nice white head, decent retention. aroma of sweet malts, honey, lightly hopped - decent grassiness, very light citrus. relatively bland but decent structure for a pale lager. average carbonation, light to medium body, short grassy finish.
1.4 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 6/20 BVery (2538) - Burnsville, Minnesota, USA - APR 5, 2012
Bottle from Half Time. Clear pale gold pour, minimal to no head. Very skunky nose. Thin palate. Taste is not as bad as all of the aforementioned would suggest - still a bland pale lager, but there’s a bit of hop kick to make it somewhat interesting.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20 Aragbir (2) - BARBADOS - APR 3, 2012 does not count
One of the best beers suited for the Caribbean climate. Such good balance and body that it has tremendous drink ability.
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 altonbrownd (3579) - Brussels, BELGIUM - MAR 15, 2012
From Half Time. Pale golden body with foamy head. Nose is lageresque. Not much taste to it. Just a run of the mill lager. But country #101!
