Banks Beer, the beer of Barbados, is a premium pilsner style lager with a smooth, fresh aroma and a medium alcohol content. Banks is brewed from a pure classic blend of 2-Row British and Australian malted barleys deliciously flavored by Yakima Clusters and the noble Styrian Goldings aroma hops. It is however Barbados’ water, naturally filtered through limestone rock, along with our own special strain of yeast, which give Banks Beer its unique Bajan character and distinctive quality. Consistently the #1 choice among beer drinkers in Barbados since it was first produced in 1961.

What can I say - light and refreshing adjunct lager with very little hop character or mouthfeel. Great for sitting on the beach.

Pours wan straw yellow with a thick but effervescent eggshell head. Aroma delivers yeasty and malty tones, not spectacular but acceptable. Malty flavor is fairly typical, a little fruit and a bit of hops, average but enjoyable. Mouthfeel features so-so body and OK fizz. Well, it’s another rating.

12 oz. bottle of "Caribbean Lager" with a best by date of May 2012 (from Dec. 2011 notes), served in a pint glass. An attractive beer, being crystal clear, golden-yellow, with a 1.5 finger white head. The head dissipates quickly, however, and the light coloration accurately predicts a light taste. Lightly skunky in both aroma and flavor, this beer is thirst-quenching and easy to down. The light-bodied mouthfeel is amply, but not over, carbonated. That’s about the best that can be said. In addition to the skunky off-aroma and off-flavor, this beer has a weak finish and very little aftertaste. The sweetness in the aroma is followed by a largely balanced (sweet-bitter) taste.

Bottle, 330ml. Pale straw colour with a small head. Aroma is hoppy and musty. Flavour is hoppy with sweet corn notes. Moderate carbonation. Not too bad for a lager.

Bottle on the cruise at the RedFrog Pub. Pale golden, thin white head. Light malt and grain, rice maybe? flavor. Not a lot of character, but crisp and drinkable.

UPDATED: JUL 3, 2016 Purchased onboard the Carnival Breeze solely for the new country tick (Barbados). Better than all the other Caribbean lagers I tried; not skunked and decently refreshing. Okay.

Bottle shared at Maakun’s. Very pale straw with thin white head. Sweet dusty cardboard, rice candy pigment coating, cheap gum. Light sweet, over medium dusty, weak stale bitter. Thin body, under medium carbonation.

Bottle shared by sjogro. Clear golden with short lasting white head. Some cardboard juice, quite some grains, dark bread, apple, light bitter herbs. Light sweet and bitter. Light bodied. Loads of cardboard but otherwise not especially bad.
