COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask: Special - JDW Beer Festival.
After his impressive début at our 2011 spring real-ale festival, Brendan Varis, from Feral (Australia’s reigning champion brewery), has returned to brew another beer for us, this time collaborating with Banks’s Brewery, in the West Midlands. This impressive IPA is brimming with recently released Australian-grown-and-bred hop varieties, providing an intense tropical fruit aroma and flavours of pineapple, mango and passion fruit. Hops used: Galaxy, Stella, Topaz

Cask conditioned handpump Moon On The Square Northampton 26/10/12. A golden coloured beer with a white head and lace. Decent hoppy notes with a bit of sweet berry. Doesn’t show off those lovely hops as you’d like especially in the nose, but there are some good flavours and it has a nice body. To be fair I drank this straight after the Adnams/Avery collab which was stunningly hoppy. This, I dare say, suffered for that.

Cask Pint – JDW Fest Autumn 2012 - Deep Gold in colour. Very Fruity; orange and grapefruit citrus, tropical fruits (pineapple and mango). Very Hoppy; resinous hops. Malty; toasty malts, caramel. Sweetish citrus fruity and malty throughout. Very drinkable. Liked this a lot. Nice Aussie IPA!

Cask at the Crosse Keys, JDW, London. Pours clear gold with a fine, white foam head. Pleasant citrus on the nose, light bready malts. Medium sweet flavor with grapefruit, melon and orange. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Mild resinous finish with mellow pine, further grapefruit and orange. Nice IPA. Probably the best of this Spoon Fest.

Oct 2012 - draught - bittersweet, bit floral, light body. Overall it’s a below average American-style IPA.

Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms, Bristol, November 2012. Copper coloured with a slight white head. Tropical fruit aroma of mango, pineapple and clementine. Flavour had plenty more fruit, some solid malts and a dryish finish. Good.

Liberty Bounds, Tower Hill 3 Nov 12. JDW festivaløl. Gyldenbrun. Lavt, litt farget skum som klamrer seg til glasset. God fruktaroma. Smaken overmoden frukt. Banan. Syrlig avslutning. Tungdrikkelig.

Hopped with plenty of tropical fruit. It’s strength is evident in its full body.

Festival ale, half, at JDWs Liberty Bounds. Patchy surface with lots of dimples. Good lacing down the glass. Clear copper coloured body. Fine aroma of hoppy fruits and mid-sweet malts. Orange and pineapples in flavour with notes of semi-sweet malts. Marmalade impression. Bittersweet ending that lingers for a white. Nice (London, 03.11.2012).

Copper colour with a solid creamy off white head. Mild fruity and hoppy aroma. Medium body with a creamy texture. Moderate mild carbonation. Light tropical fruity and a fine mild grape hoppy flavour. Perfect session beer.

Cat, feta, mango, blackcurrant, white grape, lemongrass aroma with bostin’ fresh hop. Thick, biscuit-drenched malt; hints of crystal overlaid with mango goodies; soapy peach and orange, privet, grass, aniseed. Banks’s are on a bit of a roll at the moment; if Marstons put this in all 46 (approx) of the pubs they own in Hinckley I might actually visit ONE OF THEM ONCE A YEAR. It’s that good. Delicious, if I’m being honest. Waves the Aussie/Wolverhampton flag with some panache.
