COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask: Special - Wetherspoon Spring 2013 Real Ale Festival.
This is complex and full flavoured, with sweet and roast malt flavours, balanced by a pungent hop bitterness and dry hop flourish in the finish.

Crosse Keys Spoons. Very hazy dark amber beer, small pale tan head. Palate is softish and smooth with super fine carbonation. Medium malt, touch of toffee. Fairly bitter hops with a touch of citrus. Long bitter finish. Not bad but it lack something to bring it all together.

Cask at the Crosse Keys, JDW - London. Pours clear amber with a fine, frothy beige head. The aroma holds some juicy pine, a bit of ripe citrus, toasty grass. Light to medium sweet with fairly assertive bitterness, some earthy pine, toasty bread, orange. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly resinous to finish, toasty pine, dry caramel and bread, lingering sticky grass. Pretty nice beer overall.

Cask conditioned at a Wetherspoons. Chestnut with cream head. Rich maltiness, full and fruity with a light wine type character then hints of grapefruit and strawberry from a very tasty hop. Really very pleasant and drinkable.

Cask conditioned handpump Moon On The Square Northampton 10/04/13. A dark ruby coloured beer with a whitish head and lacing. A quite complex fruity yet bitter beer. An interesting melange of flavours and a long finish. Hard to pinpoint specifics but this is a great attempt at a British ale by a Russian brewer. Some red fruits for good measure in the nose. A nice strong beer.

Cask, Corn Exchange, Leicester. Amber, red brown with an off white foam. Aromas are mixed winter berries with woody notes and lots of mixed spices. Toasted malts with herbal liquorice hints and apple. Flavours are lemon and blackberries with herbs and light gritty cocoa. Roasted with spritzy yeast on the palate. Dry on the finish with earthy, nutty notes. Nice.

One-third pint cask ale at Flying Horse (JDW). Low fawn-coloured head leaving spotty lacing behind. Deep, mahogany coloured body. Subdued jam-like aroma. Taste of sweet caramel and dark berries, semi-dry, with a smooth bittersweet twist to the ending. Fine bodied. Nice and tasty (Gatwick Airport, 10.04.2013).

Cask (handpump) at the Sir John Oldcastle (JD Wetherspoon) on 13 April 2013. Sweetish. A little tart and quite fruity (berries & plums). Reddish. Thin off white head. Good solid balancing bitterness. Tasty.

Cask at the Lawrence Sheriff (Llloyds), Rugby, 03/04/13. Dark reddish amber with a decent beige head that retains well. Good lacing ensues. Nose carries summer fruits, hops, malt, light citrus, touch of spice. Taste comprises hops, orange, caramel malt, biscuit, sugars. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry in the finish with a touch of hop bitterness. A decent all round effort and probably my number 2 of this festival just shaded by Good George.

The Baron of Hinckley. Raspberry red with a fat cream collar. Sticky fudge, liquorice confectionery, big raspberry and red berry, filter coffee aroma. Fruity, full of berries and coffee, well hopped, Tropical Starburst undercurrents; bitter walnut husk and cranberry hints. Nothing like the sticky boozy blandness I was expecting. Bitter chocolate shavings. Reminds me of the Vikings Return from a few festivals back. Last beer of the fest...and the best?
