COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Can - Pasteurised. Previously 9.1%.
Award-winning Barley Gold is a hearty, potent and warming strong ale. The colour of deep burnished gold, it’s produced from copious quantities of the finest natural brewing ingredients. Brimful with fruity, malty, bitter-sweet flavours, that are underpinned by the strength derived from a prolonged conditioning period.
This rich complex beer is particularly suitable as a partner to red meat, game and strong cheeses such as Roquefort.

Light, clear chestnut color. Absolutely amazing aroma: I almost got lost in it. Flavor is somewhat dusty with a sweet edge. Very nice and very powerful.

Bottle (275 ml). Creamy white head, excellent lacing, fully lasting. Golden orage colour. Beatifull beer, and all the rest is very very good aswell. It jumps into your nose with fine hints of summer. Very bitter and acetit taste. Loooooooong finish. A fantastic beer.

Wow, this beer has it all in this 275 ml bottle. A complex taste. Nice clear amber colour and a medium mostly lasting head. Aroma of fruits and spices and malt. A slightly alcoholic finish, but still sweet.

Strangely enough Banks is my nearest brewerey and we are surrounded by their products but this is the first one I have rated.Looking at their other beers it cant get any better.Dark when poured from the bottle with some sweetness and as you would expect plenty of alcohol.A lovely well balanced winters beer.

Really nice dark amber colour, very low head though. Round and ruby.Almost no alcoholic aroma, nice malty and hoppy. Some sweetness in flavour and finish. Rather bitter in the aftertaste. Very good!

This beer won a Bronze medal in the bi-annual Brewing Industry Internaltional Awards 2002. It has a fruity orange aroma with a warming underlying alchoholic taste. A Full bodied and well rounded barley wine.

Bottle at the Copenhagen Beer Festival 2007. Redbrown without a head. Heavy sweet, light bitter (hoppy). The alcohol is felt!

(Bottle 27,5 cl) Clear, very dark amber with a small, crude head. Vinous, sherry-like and strongly alcoholic nose. Sweetish and malty with very complex and refined notes of overripe fruit. Very warming alcohol - a true winter warmer. 111105

I do not know why, but somehow I were convinced that I would not like this one - don’t ask me why... BUT I had to swallow my prejudice - that’s for sure. It’s a mahogany red beer with a small head. The aroma has nice notes of fruit, roasted malt and a bit of alcohol in a vinous way. The flavour is wonderful with sweetness, roasted malt, caramel, ripe fruits and a bit of alcohol. It’s a nicely balanced BW, that I wouldn’t mind buying again.
