Lovely old fashioned ale, nice taste of hops with a caramel after taste. And at 99p a bottle at aldi has to be the bargain of the month!

Clear, orange/amber pour with a good white head. Nothing special in the aroma; some malts and fruits. Taste is very malty which leads to a good dry finish with hops.

Inoffensive, bog standard British brown booze. Low carbonation, thin head, malt sweet, no hop presence to speak of.

Pale bronze colour, clear, medium head, decent retention + lacing. Malty aroma, some wheat. Tasted a bittersweet maltyness, wheaty finish. Decent character for the low strength. Medium body, slightly coarse, low carbonation. Overall typical session beer, not watery, has good depth for the ABV.

UPDATED: MAY 8, 2013 Clear golden-copper coloured with very little head to it. It has a soapy aroma and texture that’s not too pleasant. Medium bitterness.

500ml bottle received as a present!Nothing left in the house to drink apart from this!Light amber pour with white head which soon subsided.Light aroma of malt and fruit with something metallic- like also in there.Taste as aroma with the metallic note also there again. This is a drinkable and not unpleasant but also totally uninspiring bitter

500ml bottle from Morrisons for £1.25:
Earthy malts and a few hints of caramel with some fruity hops. There light citrus and orange notes with a touch of bitterness towards the end.
Light amber with a thumb sized, creamy white head on top that holds well.
Again earthy malts and a spicy citrus taste followed by some very light, floral hops. The taste is a basic one but it’s not a bad one and has a touch of fruity bitterness at the end.
Medium bodied, quite spicy and with an strong, earthy bitterness to it. There is some background citrus and a rather dry finish.

A solid bitter with all the usual flavours making an appearance, it’s not the most exciting beer in the world bit it wasn’t a bad one. It was quite a nice, relatively low strength beer that seems to hit the spot and went down rather well.

Boring English beer. Not terrible or undrinkable but a bit bland. My grandad would probably have drank this type of thing in the 50s.
