On cask at Southampton Arms - August 19, 2011. Very dark ruby-black with an average beige head. Roasty aroma, treacle, raisin and light floral bitterness. Taste has a hint of cola syrup - hops are more forward, and somewhat more herbal, but it’s sweeter at the same time, some cold sweetened coffee. Watery, light body, no astringency, virtually still, but very roasty - the bitterness balances it out nicely; decent but not awesome mild.

Nitrokeg at the Habberley Social Club, Kidderminster. Pours An extremely dark brown with a large tan head. Aroma was coffee, a bot faint. Taste started with some coffee and watery chocolate in the finish. Thin in the mouth but it is low strength. Just a note, this is a different beer to Banks’s Mild, which should be rated under Banks’s Original.

Not cask, The Lime Kilns. Almost stouty dark ruby with a nitrogenous beige collar. Little chance of any aroma escaping that. Maybe a distant puff of cocoa. Mushy dunked milk chocolate digestive flavour with tiny hints of dried fruit and roast. Actually not bad if you want to sink a few pints of something tasting of slightly more than nothing, and still make perfect sense afterwards.
