Banks’s Original is brewed from local water and hops. A beautifully balanced beer, smooth and full bodied with a malty, warming and slightly fruity taste. It’s very easy drinking. Over one million pints are sold every week.

500ml bottle from Waitrose. Pours mahogany. Extremely light malt aroma. Taste is malt forward with a delicately light sweetness. Not a bad sweet caramel flavour but just appears to dissipate into watery flavours half way through. I’d get a bit depressed if this was the standard option in my local.

Bottle from Aldi. Sometimes it’s the simple stuff that’s great. Pours medium brown/chestnut, single finger tan head. Medium Carbonation. Aroma of malts, slight fruitness. Taste of initial roasted and toasted malts, then caramel, toffee, and some light winter fruits, berries...Then a biscuity, bready finish, lovely and smooth. Great, easy drinking mild. Nice.

From 500ml can. Sweet, malty n musty like a brewers dog. Clear dark ruby beer. Thin white head with slight lacing. Malty, orange peel and pithy bitterness. Dry fruity biscuit finish. Good stuff.

500 ml bottle from my European Local Swap sender minutemat. Thanks Mat for my first Mild Ale tick!
Copper, brownish, clear body, with a small, creamy, light beige head.
Aroma is quite light, but nice, with nuts, honey, dark berries, some bread.
Taste is pretty watery, but still enjoyable, with about the same aromas, but with the smooth honey notes more determined.
Light, slick mouthfeel, with a low carbonation.
Finishes light, mostly with smooth honey notes again, that stay pretty long.

Really not bad, considering the ABV. Pretty watery, but not in an unpleasant way. Well balanced, drinks very smooth. I really like the honey notes. Overall enjoyed this more than expected.

Fľaša. Tmavo jantárová farba, pena žiadna. Vôňa karamelu, sladu. V chuti prázdne telo, jemne karamel a v pozadí ovocie. Nič extra, ale pitné.

Can 500 ml at home, new style tick. Poured into a Guinness pint, ABV 3.5% Deep chestnut brown colour on the body, only a thin line of light beige head on top, despite my harsh pour. Okay retention for its size, minimal lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel, light toffee, toasted malts. Taste of caramel, toasted malts, light metal, light hops. Low bitterness on the finish and the aftertaste but a long lasting one. Medium thin body, low carbonation, almost flat. Overall okay, not a taste explosion or anything but very easy to drink and somehow enjoyable.

Can. At first I thought this was thin and watery, but as it warned up a bit it turned out to be much nicer. Pours dark amber with a thin off white head that quickly fades to a ring and then to nothing. Aroma of dark fruit, nutty, some treacle and roasted malt. Taste is sweet, dark fruit, some roasted malt and a mild and earthy bitter finish. Very sweet. Too sweet in fact. Very thin body with very low carbonation. Syrupy.
