500ml bottle. Tesco. Typical Banks aroma. Sweet malt, with hints of chocolate and raisins. Very soft palate with touches of caramel, finish and aftertaste very similar, but some cardboard does creep in late on. Its a big brand beer these days but I’ve always had a bit of a soft spot for it.

thanks to erzengel for sharing! Pours a clear garnet color with a small tan head. The smell is faint fruit and mild caramel. The taste is fruity with a bit of caramel ending a bit dry. Light body and a bit slick with tight carbonation. Carbonation level is slightly below average.

Thanks to Sean, shared with ThirstyBird. 50cl. Dark copper colour. The beer starts smooth, mild, easy to drink, but not flat. Nice malt and nice ale-character. The mainpart is smooth, malty and tends to get hoppier to the end. The aftertaste is quite long, nice ale-aromas together with a nice hop-bitter note and caramel-malts. --> Nice!!

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
500ml bottle. Dark brown-ruby in colour, bubbly foam off-white head that dissipates away and aroma of malt mash & alittle biscuit. Taste is malty, sweet, caramel with nutty notes, some biscuit, tangy fruity & slightly metallic. Dry mouth feel, light bodied, medium carbonation, moderate bitterness through to the finish. OK.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
A decent session beer. Appearance is ruby red with a thin dissipating off white head which leaves minimal lacing on the glass. The taste is very malt forward best described as ’biscuity’ finishing with a slightly sweet aftertaste. In line with the style, the hops are hardly noticeable and the body is medium. Not interesting but not bad either.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Dark brown-red coloured beer with a weak white head. A light malt aroma, cereal, oats and barley, nutty and a hint of smoky wood. Dry mouthfeel. The malt element comes through to the taste, smooth cereal, nutty and woody, with a faint hint of smoke to begin with, then there is a touch of bitterness towards the end but this only balances the sweetness of the malt. The finish is mildly bitter and quite long.

Banks’s Bitter is a favourite of mine. The Mild was a dark brown colour with caramel and a non-specific bitterness. The initial flavours were good; the finish had a slightly odd bitter nut taste. However, overall I liked it.

500ml can. A clear ruddy brown with a lasting, creamy one-finger off-white head on the pour. A lightly fruity, mostly grainy mild with delicate choccy edges. Dryish, light to medium body, short & low intensity bitterness. Drank like a mild x bitter hybrid.
